They should be there on the right side of the car (or the left if you're looking at the engine from the front). Also are you using the key right? Does the key turn in the lock? If it does, the way you open the trunk is to turn the key and then lift the handle, I forget which way is open. If you just turn the key, it won't pop open, you need to lift the handle afterwards.
