Leaking bladder for dynamic seat

I have a leaking bladder in my passenger dynamic seat. Is this common? Do these wear out? Do I need to get all three seat back bladders?

If it is a rare thing caused by a pencil poke, then I’ll just replace the one. If they age out, I’ll replace all three.

At $150 each, I don’t want three if I don’t need them. But if I need them all, I don’t want to have to do this again.

Thanks,
Peter

FWIW, I called the dealer, MB South Charlotte and the parts guy said he had replaced his seat bladders. $300 for all the seat back parts. He said, for all the work in getting to them, might as well do them all.

I agreed. Parts are on order.

FWIW, I took the passenger seat all apart and replaced all three bladders. No clue whether the other two needed replacement but all are new now. Not a terrible job but non-trivial too.

Dealer parts tend to be perfect fits and high quality.👍

Works like a champ now and no more wired hissing noises.😀

Very common…

Mostly age related, usually they fail at the ultrasonic seam/weld at the perimeter of the bladder.

I did them on our E550, both active bolsters were leaking. Required disassembling and removing the headrest, back cover and seat back cover/foam. Basically stripping the seat back to a bare metal frame…

On the W212 some bladders are separate, others not. The active bolsters are part of a frame which has the lower lumber ones. Separately, there’s also the massage and thigh bladders.
