03 e500 W211 Rear coil spring conversion questions please help !
https://suncoreindustries.com/produc...-w219-airmatic
The front conversion went without a hitch and I removed the pump and some of the airmatic accessories during the process. All good !
The rear is a different story. I was able to remove the rear shocks as well as the rear air springs. I think I’ll be able to get the replacement shocks installed with no issues. My problem lies in the coil springs. I purchased spring compressors and compressed them to the point where they’ll slide in and sit on the perches however it’s impossible to undo the spring compressors because there’s no room to work therefore The spring compressors are not going to work here. Arnott seems to have a similar kit with similar looking springs and perches so I downloaded their instructions but it’s not clear what I need to remove in order to be able to slide the spring in and then be able to compress it enough to reassemble the rear part of the suspension. The part that’s confusing is on pages 13, 14, and 15 of this specific guide: https://arnottinfo.com/manuals/C-2278.pdf
has anyone done a successful coil spring conversion on their W211 that can advise how I can slide the spring in and be able to complete this installation?
to further clarify I am working on my vehicle raised up with a jack and jackstands. if I can figure out how to install the spring I think I can complete this installation tomorrow and get back on the road!
I very much appreciate any input that will help me achieve this goal. Thanks in advance!
