W211 4matic tire wear

Hi, had the car for two weeks and noticed the front tires have almost half the thread left than the rear.
Tires are same age and type and was wondering how is the wear on these cars.
Due to 4matic do the front tires wear more?
I think it's time to rotate them as I have no info when was the last time that was done.

Thank you.

this one is on me.
I checked three tires and assumed fourth is the same. Guess what it isn’t
the fourth is much newer thus making me think the front over rear is worn more.

live and learn I guess.

I have new set of tires anyways that go in soon.

thank you

Hi :

Fact is a “Full Front and Rear 4 Wheel Alignment” is only “Toe” DIRECTIONAL ADJUSTMENT!

There is no front Camber or Caster and no rear Camber. Its all to do with cost cutting and the ever increasing speed of auto assembly lines ( new car industry's best kept secret).

Attached is instruction sheet for front kit. Precisely Camber and Caster adjustable (single wrench - accurately on alignment rack)’

Up to 1.5 degrees Pos. or Neg. Fit without arm removal. Also replaces the 4 front heightest wearing bushings

#502416K $ 480.

Similar rear kit (Camber and extra Toe) # 502526K $480.

The big problem with four wheel drive vehicles in general is the sensitivity to wear. If a tire wears, its diameter is different and that causes problems in the drivetrain working to keep them all turning as the same rate. Differentials suffer when the tires aren’t the same diameter.

Good alignment, plenty of tire rotation, and general maintenance are important practices. Yes, MB doesn’t give much for front camber and caster and only toe at the rear. I was surprised to hear that as my car aged and its camber went more negative, the MB response was that if camber was out, I must have wrecked it and it was time to buy a new car.

I haven’t tried the KMAC system above but it does seem to address the adjustment limitations of the factory.

Sadly, you may also need to purchase new tires.
