Car cover insight and recommendations?
My W211 E55 will have to live outside for a while until I can figure out if/when I'm building a carport or garage extension to our home.
I don't drive this car much. Maybe once or twice a week on runs to get takeout.
About our weather and the parking area:
- I live in the Atlanta, GA (USA) metro area.
- Cement parking pad adjacent to the driveway into the garage in my home.
- Mild winters with little or no snow.
- Hot summers.
- Occasional rain maybe once every 2-3 weeks.
- Rain in the summer evaporates quickly due to the heat.
- No trees directly above the parking area.
- Little to no tree sap falling in that area.
- Direct sunlight on the parking area for a few hours during the day.
Thanks!

But the conditions you described make me think that what you may need are front and rear sun shields unless there is a lot of environmental fallout in your area. Maybe just hand washing your car once a week would be sufficient.
Car covers are best for people who need to protect the car. Tree sap, heavy leaf fall, lots of birds, very high dust levels, environmental fallout like living near an aluminum refining plant.
Car covers have some negatives. The car must be dust free before installation. Most cover manufacturers recommend thorough washing and waxing before using the cover. Any dust will damage the finish because the wind, no matter how slight, will move the cover and abrade the finish.
Covers must come off the car a couple of time a week, especially in warm to hit conditions. Nighttime cooling can cause moisture to accumulate under the cover. It the cover doesn’t come off, mold can begin to grow in warm weather. The mold is damaging to rubber seals and can even affect the finish.
Others may have a different take, but hope this helps.
Maybe I'll follow through with getting that clear UV tint that I've been considering and also get front and rear sun shields like you suggest.
