No because we only got some wind and very little rain. These are back service roads behind the dealer that is next to the back side of the airport runway. Soon to be all airport property. All the roads back there are in extremely bad condition.
I took a drive back there after the event and walked down into the holes. maybe 10-12 inches deep.

I know that if it happened to me, I would be fit to be tied.

Insurance claim?

are you kidding? they are already giving me the run around. They walked away from the event telling me to go get my other tires and come back and replace them and take my car home.

Were these factory rims or an aftermarket rim? Kind of hard to tell from the backside photos. If they are factory I can't believe that a rim could be so badly damaged by a pothole.

Brabus 19s. Look at the pictures. Extremely low profile tires (30 or 35 series?)

I learned that with my Volvo T5R (Yellow) that had only 205/45-17, the poorly maintained pothole infected roads of today and extremely low profile tires simply do not mix!

The hole I hit was on I -10, and although it was only about 10 to 12 inches accross and not all that deep, I hit it doing 60-65 mph, and with so little sidewall height, contact was made with both edges of that alloy wheel, and I kissed $450 goodbye. Didn't kill the tire, just the wheel. I traded that fine rare car off because of those wheels.

Ouch, Viesel. Your car took a beating... but glad it's covered.

Hope your car is covered. However, there have many posts on this board in the past two years about the problems with after market 19-20 inch rims on the E-500's. They are simply NOT designed to work well with this car. My neighbor with an AMG model returned to his factory installed rims after hitting speed bumps in our neighborhood the first week with his 20 inch rims. These are primarily show car rims and should not be used in typical highway or city driving. The tire sidewall is an integral part of any vehicles suspension design so if you go to a larger wheel and thinner sidewall, you are always going to encounter problems. This is true in SUV's as well as sedans.
