CDI lost it's pickup

I was driving on the GSP today averaging about 75 mph, when I had to slow down for a toll booth there was no pickup when getting back up to speed, after getting off the parkway and onto regular streets the same thing, no pickup from a stop and no over taking power.
If I were to diagnose it I'd guess the turbo is shot. Anyone else care to guess? :nix:

oh oh. I hope this isn't going to be problem for all of us CDI owners. Any euro owners want to chime in on this. From what I understand the CDI has been in Europe for some time now. Historically, has it had any major problems?

Sounds like your transmission got confused and went into limp-home mode

Did you try stopping, turning the car off, then back on?

Hi Kort,
Not a nice experience. Just so I can picture what you mean, did you actually have to stop at the toll booth, and then when you pulled away the symptoms that you have described set in?

Debris\dirt in fuel line?

Please don't say you have chipped the engine?

A friend who has a Ford diesel described similar symptoms to those you described and it was caused by dirt (muck) in the fuel tank. It was intermittant and very frustrating. There are though a dozen different reasons for the problem. I am touching wood here and this is our second E320CDI and fourth Mercedes-Benz CDI and I have not experienced your symptoms.

Good luck in getting it rectified
Regards,
John

No it went, just very slowly, no pickup, I floored the thing and the tach never went past 3k and eventualy the car got up to about 60 mph.

Could be, I was down to a quarter tank and I had bought that fuel at a place I usually shun

After sitting overnight the problem seems to have corrected itself but I am still sending it in to the shop tomorrow, maybe they'll spot the problem with the computers, and like you've suggested I'll have them check/change the fuel filters.

It sounds like what my car was doing at one point, except it eventually lost all power and left me scratching my head on the side of the interstate.
Please keep us posted, of course I definately want to here what your problem ends up being. Mine is still not right, but after my last ordeal with the dealer I will not go back there until they buy the car back and order me another one.
