E270 Key Fob Lock/Unlock Issue

E270 Key Fob Lock/Unlock Issue
I have a 2003 E270 Avantgarde (W211). Neither of the 2 key fobs will lock/unlock the car. The batteries in the key fobs are good, the red indicator light on the fobs illuminates when any of the 3 buttons are depressed and the IR on the key fob is working. The central locking works perfectly from the centre console and I have checked the number 8 fuse in the boot (I hope that is the correct fuse) and the fuse is good. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing the issue?
If I replace the Left Antenna Amplifier Module, will it need coding/pairing to work with the existing key fob?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Check the fuse for the remote locking and alarm in the trunk fuse box. A search will tell you which fuse it is. It is most likely your alarm siren in the driver side front wheel well being shorted out causing the fuse to pop. You can unplug the alarm siren and put a new fuse in to fix your problem, but you will not have an alarm siren. Or you can replace the alarm siren.

Just thought I'd give an quick update. I removed the Left Antenna Amplifier Module from the vehicle, removed the cover and could immediately see corrosion plus it had a suspect SMD capacitor. I purchased a second hand module on eBay (£16.16), fitted it within 10 minutes and voila, the central locking is once again working from the key fob. Problem solved!
