6 liters from transmission?

6 liters from transmission?
When draining the transmission I got 6 liters of fluid from the pan!
I think this should not be more than 4 to 5 liters. The 722.6 is supposed to hold 8 liters, 4.5 excl the converter.
My guess now is that some idiot filled up way too much (8 liters?) on the last change. I had already noted some oil or fluid dripping around the transmission, so probably from the breather.
What would be the alternative scenario?
I added 4 liters of fluid on the refill and the dipstick is close to the top.
