2006 E350 - GPS Navigation has gone Crazy!

Dear MBWorld Forum,

Last week, the Check Engine light came on my 2006 E350. It had a P00012 code which was camshaft solenoid - the mechanic replaced two solenoids and told me he had to re-program. I had to come back twice to get the problem resolved. Both times he had to re-program something.
But then I noticed my GPS had suddenly gone whacko! What I mean is the compass direction is now incorrect (gives the wrong direction, e.g., displays South when I'm going West, etc.) and it displays the wrong location - shows I'm in Orange County, California while I'm driving in Los Angeles.
Was the re-programming for the camshaft solenoids related to my GPS problem or are they unrelated? I complained about this to the shop and they said it had nothing to do with each other.
Any recommendations? How can I restore my GPS navigation functionality?
Thank You

Not sure how a foxwell scanner would help me in this scenario. Do you mind elaborating a little more? I'm posting in this forum for Senior Members like yourself to provide expertise and insights from their experiences. Thanks

I am more familiar with COMAND than your camshaft issue. you have to read the radio code through some soft of software to pull the code from the radio/comand at least. it puts it into a diagnostic mode... regular OBD scanner will not pick up this area of car.

sorry about vague direction but finding someone with a scanner if you dont want to invest in your own (the foxwell is just the cheapest one I found that works for diagnosis for me) there are others

I bet you finding the camshaft solenoid is possible too with this scanner, at least reading the values and testing or resetting it . I am sure there are better answers
