Retrofitting COMAND NTG1 on W211 - Plug & Play or Amplifier Needed?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to retrofit the COMAND NTG1 system into my 2003 Mercedes W211 E-Class, which currently has the Audio 50 APS system installed. I’m curious whether this retrofit is plug-and-play or if additional components, like an amplifier, are required for it to function correctly.

A couple of specific questions:
  • Will the CD changer (located below the navigation system, not in the trunk) still work with the NTG1?
  • Do I need to perform any coding or configuration in DAS after installing the new navigation unit?
For reference, here’s my VIN: WDB2110041A305892, in case it helps clarify the current configuration of my car.

If anyone has done this upgrade or has experience with similar retrofits, I’d love to hear your tips or insights!

Thanks in advance for your help!
