Bird's Eye View on NAV System?

Hello,

My brother was in an ML500 today and he said it had a bird's eye (3D) feauture on the NAV system. I was wondering if you guys knew if we had this feature on our W211 systems and if you knew how to make it work?

Thanks!

Chris

no - 2D only

It's a birds-eye view. It's just that the bird is looking straight down. Hopefully, at the designer of the M-B nav system.

Mercedes Nav Sucks

Actually, that's weird, Mercedes is one of the best car companies in the world, but their nav systems suck. Look a Infiniti, Lexus, Acura, actually I think everyone has a better nav system. Why is that????? Not only does it not work as well as everyone elses, it also has the worst graphics and details. :wall:

I've seen Inifiniti's bird's-eye view, and to me it's not such a bug deal (to each his own, I guess). What I would like to see is better zoom-in/out speed.

My zoom in and out are instantaneous. I don't notice any difference here in either rural or urban aras that could explain different read times from the DVD.

Afternoon Fastbuck,
But aren't the tree's so much prettier in summer when they are in full leaf? :)

Have you seen the blue breasted robin today?

Regards,
John

It's odd that my SL has the bird's eye view, and the E does not. The graphics however, are better in the E.

Only on the news. I'm sure it will die of hypothermia by the weekend! :v

Wow, I'm not sure what navigation system you are used to (or would like to mimic) that has better zooming speed, but I know LOTS of systems that have MUCH worse speed when zooming (such as ... say ... COMAND 2.0).

What is so odd about it? Mercedes offers no fewer than five completely different navigation systems in their 2005 US models (add another two for Europe, and who knows how many more for Japan). The five have all different features and use four different navigation discs.

That is not odd at all...the SL DVD comand is - like the SL DVD and CL DVD comands - made by Siemens...where as the E-class DVD comands are - like SLK DVD comands and the CLS DVD comands - made by Becker.

If any of this is odd at all, it is the fact that the Siemens comand uses a Becker board...

I think the Mercedes DVD NAV is technically as good as the lexus system.
I've found it highly accurate and the birds eye view is cool.
Although touchscreen on lexus is much easier to operate. Touchscreen is the way to go.

I wouldn't call the E-class NAV accurate, forget about highly accurate
For the people who are in the USA, I will give you 2 examples:
I live in Detroit's suburbs, I could not find these 2 locations
Beverly Hills Club 31555 Southfield Rd, Beverly Hills, MI. this is a big athletic club on a major street in an old city (we are not talking about a new development). the NAV would not recognize the block 31555, and the whole area is full of resturants and office buildings but I could not find them on the NAV.
same thing with 45441 heydenreich, Macomb township, MI which is a big clinic building :nix: I mentioned these locations because I go there frequently AND I COULD FIND THEM USING MY 2003 VOLVO NAV :wall: which will even till you if they are on your left/right hand side exactly at the location (not the block).
