An E320 excursion to the Adelaide hills...

It was a beautiful day today. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky and the temp was around 25C. I took my kids out for a drive and decided to take a few shots of my baby....I hope you'll enjoy the pics of the car and a glimpse of Adelaide

BTW, sorry about the large size. I only have MS Photo Editor on this comp and it doesn't resize well at all.

Adelaide.

I get to Adelaide quite a bit. But I never get to take my merc. My wife is from the northern suburbs (parents still their) but we reside in Brissy. Just got back from a couple of days at the Sheridon Mirage on the Gold Coast. The villas are pretty good
Looks like you had a great day
cheers

Vice versa for me as I get to Brissy quite a bit as well, around once every 3 weeks. I'm generally in Virginia or down in Andrews.

Sheraton Mirage...nice... we had an apartment there overlooking the Nerang, it was near Australia Fair, called the Rivage Royale. I miss that place

The landscape looks a lot like coastal California in the summer, right down to the trees - not surprising considering that Adelaide is about as far south as central California is north. Australia has eucalyptus trees, too? (Yes, I know. Just kidding)

Yes, a number of times. Cleland was one of my favourite places to visit. And Mt. Lofty provides the best view of the city.

After looking at the photos again, it looks like the road down the western side of the hills into Adelaide. That is a beautiful drive, much better than the eastern one through the tunnels.

Wines? Superb! Unfortunately, we can't get the really good ones here in the states. They don't seem to make it far from the vineyards. Can't imagine why.

I'll leave it to H-e-double-toothpicks-ona-Harley to defend the hono(u)r of California wines. He's a Napa Valley homeboy and I'm not.

There is no defending the Napa Valley wines needed.... Everyone knows we grow and make most of the best wines in the world. Although Le Burpor has exceptional taste in cars, two fine looking boys and lives in a wonderful country (I wish to visit one day) he really needs to visit here and taste what the Napa Valley is all about.... World class wines.

Hi Hell ona-yama ha-ha-haa
Monsewer Le Blonk told me that Napa Wine was only good for dying Nappa Leather, or as a last resort it could be used as anti-freeze?

Being teetotal I could not possibly comment either way.

Take care,
John

Aww c'mon, we've come a long way from 1972

I've only tried Californian wine once and was dissapointed. However, I acknowledge that I shouldn't judge the whole region based on one bottle

Hell-On-A-Harley, give us a yell when you are coming down and we'll organize a winery tour in South Australia, home of the one of the world's best Shiraz

Only in Australia is it known as "Shiraz" but the rest of the world knows it as "Syrah".... Not my cup of tea (as Glojo would put it) but a decent wine for the price non the less, and yes you guys do a very good job of it..... I'm a Merlot and cab man myself, but never pass up a free bottle no matter what you call it... Not sure If I'll ever make it "down under", but your country has always intrigued me.

LOL!! The twist tops are more practical IMHO. It's only just been adopted by some of the brands here.

Yes, it's Shiraz in Australia...as usual we thought we got it right until it was proven that the French were right in the first place with Syrah
