Airmatic Lowering

What is a TSW Airmatic lowering module? I saw it mentioned in another thread but not sure if it is something you purchase or just software to trick the sensors.

Do you mean TWS? The Wheel Supply in Walnut CA? If that is what you mean they lower it via airmatic but when I called to find out how they wouldn't tell me. Said it was top secret or something but said it was full adjustable.

Just go to aftermarket wheel. Most of them know how to lower airmatic on W211s. It only take 20 to 30 mins.

Is aftermarket wheel the name of a place? If so, where are they located? Do you have contact info? How much do they charge to lower an E500 with airmatic?

BaldMike,

Did you lower your 2005 E500? If so, did you go to Walnut Ca, from San Jose? If you know of someone in San Jose area, could you let me know. I dont feel like spending the $1500-2000 for the Carlsson or Brabus kit. Thanks.

I have not lowered it yet and am not sure if I will go down to Walnut CA. I know the shop foreman at Beschoff in SJ will do it for $800 but I think that is too pricey. If you are interested in that option shoot me an email or give me a call (510-508-5935) and I will give you a contact name/number I have.
I am talking to a buddy of mine who is a MB tech at a local dealership who may be doing mine in the very near future. I think TWS in S.CA just does the slotting of the module and a different bracket up front similar to the washer trick. When I spoke to them they said it would only take an hour to do and was adjustable, but would not tell me how they do it "top secret".

I talked to the same head clown at Beshoff and he pulled the same ~1k bull**** line. Just go to Steve in san jose (mbenznl dot com). I've talked to him before when I was going to do it...he will do it much much cheaper. In fact, when I do get around to getting something done, it will be by him. Thank god he's here in the bay area.

I don't believe that is Rusnakmb's car, he only has that picture in is Sig. Anyway, based upon the plate, it is a Wald kit.

We do it with the diagnostic system for under a few hundred bucks. No modifications to the car. The down side is that on an E55 you can only get about 3/4" lowering without going out of spec. I think the E320 Airmatic and E500 can go a bit lower.

People really pay $1,000, $800 or whatever to have their Airmatic lowered?? With some BASIC handtools and 45 minute investment any monkey can do it! Do a search and you will find how simple it is. Cheers.

I lowered my front end a little more last night. Got it just right first try, miracle. however, the rear was a different story. The guy I took it to to do the initial install/setup just shimmed the rear bracket... and its out of thread. So I guess I will have to bust out the dremel to be able to slide it up. Heh. well here are some crappy pics, with my 1" rake:

Scorchie,

Can you recommend someone in Southern California (preferably OC) that will lower the car by Stardiognose?

Hoffyvortex,

It is not done via Stardiagnose but this is what I have learned what is avail. in S. Ca.
I spoke with Albert at The Wheel Supply in Walnut, CA. They wouldn't tell me how they do it but I think they move the sensor for the rear and have mfg. some front new brackets since they say it can be done in under an hour. They said it is adjustable but would not divulge their secret on how to raise it up if needed..... It is not a good deal for me since I am in the Bay Area.

Thanks
Mike

If they dont tell me how its done, they can kiss my @ss.. wouldn't do business with them. Most likely what will happen is what happened to me.. charge 600 for 50 bucks in parts. You can get the parts cheap, pay someone about 200 or so for install. Or just do it yourself.

Overpaid for MB lowering links (front). Rear, was shimmed. The sensor sits on a bracket on rear axle, and the bracket gets raised, lowering the car. Very easy to adjust front, rear would be if I had slots drilled in. I will do that later this week now. Anyone with avg mechanical ability can do this mod.

Mike... didn't get any PMs. Maybe try an e-mail! We lower it with Star Diagnosis so there's no modification to the car, but there is a limit to how low it can go without either using the sensor brackets or changing to the ECE-spec Airmatic control module.

Incidentally, the ECE-spec Airmatic control module lowers the car less at a higher speed so the car can start at a lower stance without problems.

Scorchie,

Sent an email from the link on your website from my work account. I just changed to a set of 19's so don't want it dumped just want to bring it down for a cleaner look. Let me know if you don't get my email. I look forward to getting the car lowered.

Scorchie:
I send an email to you late last month regarding lowering by DAS. Here is the initial reply.

Hi Ray, we can do that, it is $250 and we need the car about 2
hours. We only use the DAS method, so the lowering is limited to
about 1/2-3/4" (depending on your car height to start) and it is
very subtle. I have pictures of before/after somewhere. We only use
the DAS method and limit it to 3/4" to keep everything in spec, thus
no error codes when you go to the dealership.

If you have further questions about this or any other MBenzNL
products or would like to check out our E55 for other W211 mod
ideas, please give me a call.

Thanks!

But after a follow up email on the process and warranty questions, here is the answer back i got.

Hi Ray, I don't think we're going to be able to help you with
lowerng your car. Sorry about that!

Please clarify that whether you have the ability to do it or not.......
