looks like indium

boring, imho. Now the E Class looks like every other car on the road. And what's with those dual fog lamps?? They look like two radar gun tubes or whatever.

btw, I think LED DRLs look bling and am betting on them as being a passing fad. Every time I see an Audi with those bright strips, I think electronic billboards. And MB made it even worse with the weird L-shape.......

I took a look at the new E today and was amazed at what all features are on these things. It has almost everything my S600 has, just a smaller car. I don't even have the blind spot assist. This one had distronic and blind spot assist, rear camera, night vision which is a waste of money IMO, pano roof, adaptive seats, adaptive headlights, Ipod, and many more goodies but it was only a 350.
This new E class is a fantastic bargain if it is loaded. I'd pick the E550 if I had to choose with all options.

What I don't understand is why are there still the bullet holes on the bumper if you get distronic? The S class is void of the holes if distronic is available

After looking at the pictures again, I like the sporty version best with the large CL looking grille with the big star in the center as opposed to the traditional S class grille, especially with the new headlight design.
I also visualized if the traditional grille would have looked better if it extended down below the level of the bumper.

The new salesman I spoke with today refused to call them foglights. He said they were daytime running lights. Is that true?

A new feature is the combination of halogen headlamps with daytime running lights positioned on the outside of the bumper beside the front fog lamps. The daytime running lights are fitted with special bulbs that are designed to last as long as the entire life of the vehicle. Compared with driving in daylight with the low beams lit, the daytime running lights consume significantly less power and, thanks to their specially aligned illumination, are much easier to see. Daytime running lights with bulbs - E2/3 daytime running light, E5/2 front fog lamp

Vehicles with bi-xenon headlamps or with the optional light packages with codes (608) and (P35) are equipped with LED-type daytime running lights and the front fog lamps in the bumper are not installed. LED headlamps consume less power than light bulbs and constitute an additional styling element at the front of the car. Daytime running lights with LEDs - E2/3 daytime running light

As usual, thanks for the quick replies. LEDs do make a lot of sense.
