Uh oh...New Generation 5er
I love them both! Design language Blah!
The 5 looks like a 3 and the E looks like a C. And I don't care.
Both rock.
Now what to do?? I can't have both...
Can I?

My favorite part of the F10, is that to me it seems clear that BMW went to the E39 and even E34's spirit to harken back, sure it's technically an evolution of the E60, but to me, this is classic BMW brought back, and the interior gives off the warmer feeling of the E39 as well.

Additional qualifier. As a A4 owner I do also like Audi's but that's another topic.

I think the F10 really widens the gap in terms of how BMW is always perceived over M-B, younger, slicker, more athletic, the 212 is a very staunch and conservative design and shape, albeit with lots of details going on and aggressive twists and angles to keep it interesting to "young" people as well, however it is a "parents" car through and through, just like the other E's, I always knew that of the 211, but liked it enough to buy it anyway (and hated the E60), however this time around, I just feel like the F10 is bringing back my craving to drive something that's intended for "spirited" drivers.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I'm sure the new 5 will handle great (it's a BMW), but it looks big, bloated and anything but hip. The E definitely has a more aggressive design - hardly conservative. The 211 was conservative. But the 212 is still a large Benz, so it'll probably always have a perception disadvantage when it comes to the younger market. As will just about any car bigger than an entry level.
No doubt to me the F10 looks tons "younger", but hey that's just me.
If having relevance in todays market is equal to looking a lot like many high selling Japanese/Korean cars out there, than the 212 indeed is there, what I like about the F10, is that it doesn't follow any current design trends, which means it won't look "out-dated" as fast as the (this time around) trendier E-Class.

Even the current E60 550i with the M package is still sick and would really consider one. That's the only version of the E60 I like. The other ones are just ewww.
If we're gonna compare non Sport versions, it's a bit of a different story. The F10 looks far far sportier and more athletic than a non AMG Package 212.

I'll save my final opinion for when I see it IRL, if it really does look like a 3-Series, I'm not gonna love it, as the 3 is kind of boring to me for whatever reasons. If it looks as stunning as I hope it will (being someone who really appreciates a super clean and flawless design), then I'll be on board.

where is your problem?? just leave the board and buy a bmw 5 F10!! but please stop writing...

Don't be mad that the F10 is looking hot, fanboyism is like wearing blinders, much healthier to judge each car individually.

This 212 blows away the bland RLish styled 5er.
