Which color looks best?

I'm trying to buy a new e350 but am going back and forth on the color.
I initially liked black on black but now I'm thinking about a different color.
Maybe a steel grey or silver.
Which car do u think looks best for this model?

mcdohl 03-28-2010 02:50 AM

I have a black on black with black ash wood car on order. I have had 4 cars the same way. I used to order different color cars before and I noticed for re-sale purpose Black/Black with Black wood tend to sell the fastest and easiest.

I have had 4 CLK Convertibles and 1 E-Class Convertible(1996) and I was able to sell all my CLK in the LA Times within 1 week and it took me 3 months to sell a Black/Tan E-Class Cab.

I was told by my local dealer the most popular color is Black/black/black by far if that helps you at all. I am in So Cal. so I guess most popular color combo might vary by areas too.

I believe color is a personal choice. As far as resale goes I have had the best luck with Red and Black but that does not influence my choice. Currently have a Steel Gray ML550 and a Palladium Silver E350 4M.I buy what I like on the vehicle I am purchasing. My last ML500 was an 06 that was Alpine Rain. Loved it when I bought it but became very bored with it in 6 months.

OceanView 03-28-2010 01:00 PM

Yes, it's a personal choice and I don't care too much about the resell value.
I am concerned that I might get bored of the color after some time and wonder which color makes this car look it's best.
For some reason, I think the back looks better in black but the front looks better in white/silver/steel grey.
Gonna take a real hard look today at all colors and try to decide.

If you do not care about re-sale value at all you can pull Bijan and special order a SL550 in taxi cab yellow with black interior and then get personalized license plate "Bijan"(or whatever your name is). He parks it in front of his store on Rodeo DR.

Trust me I think he is only schmuck with that car combo in the USA and you can spot him from a mile away. I do not think they are too many other people who special order that color combo and then gold plate everything on the car. IMO it is the ugliest MB in all Los Angeles and I have never seen another Taxicab yellow MB besides his.

Black is a wonderful color on MB's. I have had one but the grief is too much to put up with on a daily driver. Clean black car is great but the least little dirt shows much too much and really detracts from the car.

shaffras 03-28-2010 08:27 PM

Car color

I have Iridium Grey and love it. You don't see that many of them and it is easy to keep clean. Very distintive.

Dema 03-28-2010 10:00 PM

I like combination black outside and some light color inside with black wood.

OceanView 03-29-2010 02:36 AM

OK, I've narrowed it down to Black on Black or White on Black.
I want the White with Ash interior but apparently it's nowhere to be found and I don't have time to order it and wait.

Should have my decision soon.
Photos to come....

mcdohl 03-29-2010 04:09 AM

deleted misread your post sorry.

I ordered an E350 Luxury from the factory in Ocotober and had it in 3 weeks-lucky maybe.
Changed my mind several times on colors, finally settled on Palladium Silver with gray interior. Luxury comes with the walnut wood trim. Started to get Steel Gray, but in person seemed to be too dark. Have never had good luck with black cars-show dirt too easily and scratch too easily.
Audi dealer told me that he discounts trade-ins $1,000 if they are not silver, gray, white or black in this class of sedans. Seems they turn over a lot quicker.
But bottom line is how will you feel while you are driving it-or looking at it with your favorite beverage in your hand.

If you received your E 3 weeks after your order it was either already built or in production. There is no way that the car can be ordered and in your hands 3 weeks after an order.

Ash is the least popular interior and not stocked by many dealers.Hope you are going for leather over the std tex

BobRBob 03-29-2010 02:17 PM

Black on Black for sure.

Btw, regarding the leather vs MB Tex, I thought the same thing till I actually sat in a 350 that I thought was leather. Turned out it was the std Tex. Damn good imitation I gotta say. Couldn't tell the difference. Not sure I'd dump an extra $2500 into the leather if you can't even tell. jmo

In the long term leather is the way to go. It feels better, develops a patina and smells better. I do not like sitting on plastic and it has no character. Yes, tex is a good imitation but its still an imitation, fake. Leather is well worth the additional charge unless you are buying the car to use as a taxi.

I just love the word patina. What a quaint way to describe worn. :)

OK guys, It's the only Black/Black with Black Ash wood that was available in the area.
These are crappy iPhone photos taken today at delivery.
Will have to take better ones over the weekend.

By the way, I love the new Navigation / Voice command system.
It's so much better than the previous version.

Ordered: Oct. 19, 2009; Completed: Nov. 4, 2009; Delivered: Nov. 20, 2009. Sorry, four weeks. It was not in production until I ordered it. Very, very few Luxury versions are built on "spec."

I get the most comments on my Paladium Silver E350 than any other color so far. Everyone in town says they always see E350's in Black, plain Grey or White and the Paladium Silver color is both different and distinctive. The Paladium Silver also hides the dirt between washes better than any Black car I've owned.

IM_(not-so)_HO the black leather interior is much more confortable than MB-Tex. Just seems better in the hot sun or the cool winter clouds.

Finally, I LOVE IT when other cars circle mine on the freeway to get a better look :) ... has happened many times. It's even better when it's another wanna-be lux car :p: doing the circling.

RickP330 03-31-2010 09:13 AM

Congrats dude, it's an awesome ride!

andrewdbarnes 03-31-2010 09:46 AM

I've just collected my E350 CDI from Stuttgart and agonised for weeks over the colour. Finally I went for the Iridium Silver and it looks stunning with the black interior and wooden steering wheel. I did the factory tour and apparently 50% of Mercedes are Black, 30% Silver, 10% White and the rest are various colours.

okc329 03-31-2010 11:15 PM

The manufacturer no longer offers ...

the color that I think looks best - brilliant silver. Clean car with this paint looks like it has been dipped in mercury.

OceanView 03-31-2010 11:29 PM

Most colors look great on this car.
That was one of the reasons I was going back and forth between black, white, silver and steel grey.
At the end, there is no wrong answer to this question as the car looks great in all those colors.

Thanks to all that replied.
