Brakes & Rotors for E350 4m

Hi,
I'm new here. Just curious, I have an 06 E350 that I bought in Nov 09, CPO car, have driven less than 4k miles since ownership. I need new brakes and rotors - grinding sound when stopping. Confirmed with dealership today. Had to drive with the mechanic today to prove the sound -- good thing dealership is fixing "at no cost to me"...

How often can I expect to replace my brakes/rotors on this car?

I drive prolly 10K miles per year.

What's your experience with replacement?

Thanks in advance for any input/suggestions.

Cool

I leased 2006 E-Class 4matic for 2 years and drove 25K miles on it - no any brake job was done. The same thing for my next 2008 E-Class - 2 years, 19K miles and no brake job. I think it depends on the way you driving. I don't think rotors need to be changed very often..may be once in 40K-50K miles. Pads replacement depends on your driving habit, but I think should not be less than 10K-15K miles minimum.

Thanks so much aeggroup for responding. Good to know about the replacement.

I was shocked that my brakes/rotors needed to be replaced considering I just got that car in Nov and it was CPO'd. This brake/rotor problem made me call Benz today to find out if the car I bought was actually cpo'd and it was. The dealership is repubtable. Only one gentlemen in service told me that they "probably wouldn't cover fixing it" - then I had to ask him about their rigorous CPO inspection process -- good enough for 4K miles, is that the process? Because that was not my understanding of MBCPO inspection for brakes and rotors... Sell me a car with brakes and rotars to last less than 4K miles? I won.

Had an 01 E Class, An 05 E320 4 M and now a new 10 E350 4 M. My previous cars were driven 40 to 45000 miles while I had them. Never needed brakes on any. the 2010 is too new to make any comparison at this point. If your car has 25000 miles on it and needs brakes I would say it was driven pretty hard and even abused. As for the CPO, I can understand how a mechanic could just assume that the brakes were OK at that low mileage but thats really no excuse for not having a look at them. Glad you made out OK.

Yea..you absolutely right to talk to them and force them to do it for free.
Congrats... In general - 2008 is a nice car and you will enjoy it.

Good Luck
