From what I remember:

COMMAND Graphic Display will be "3D" like on the S-Class,
A/C Controls will also be accessible via the COMMAND Screen,
Change in Headlight-Knob design (interested to see how this look),
"ESP Off" Button removed, and moved to the COMMAND,
P2 Package LED's get a different design only on the LUXURY/Elegance/Avangarde Models.

.... Can't remember any others. All in all, pretty small stuff.

Eagerly awaiting some Pics of '11's inside & out, and some Member Reviews stating what differences there really are. Hope not too many, so I don't feel remorse for buying one of the last Production 2010 months built. Either way, I've enjoyed the car enough for the couple of months to make it all worth it.

One thing about the second (and later) year of the model is that any issues discovered in the first year will be addressed. Case in point is mid 2010 change in door panels to improve safety.

fwiw, more 2011 changes:

E-Class

* Bluetec arrives in late summer with 17” run-flats, sport or luxury
* Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist added to Driver
Assist Package in E350/E550 sedans
* E63 gets alcantara headliner and stitched dash as standard
* Diamond White available starting in October production
* Wagon is standard with rear view camera and power liftgate
* Coupe gets new 18” AMG wheel in Appearance Package
* Cabriolet introduced with AIRCAP, AIRSCARF and trunk pass through

Runflats? I hope MB doesn't decide to save $$ and go with runflats on all cars. That's already a big minus with BMWs, imho.

Finally MB wised up with the cost cutting on the E63 and has brought back the alcantara headliner, and a stitched leather dash. Hopefully full Nappa leather seats will again be available, too.

Big thing will be the motor changes soon. I'd say 2012MY or 2013MY will be when to buy a W212. And by then they'll have figured out what options people really want, and what works and what doesn't.

Agreed ! Run flats are a no-no on any luxury cars. I don't think MB will put run flats of non-diesel cars because it would just kill the ride quality and the serenity of the cabin. The reason why they have it on diesel models is because the urea tank is where the spare will would be.

Cool Run Flats

Understand they are also very expensive to replace?
From list of what's new, glad I went ahead and got the 2010 as none of the changes really affect me.

Yes, four years ago when I was driving a 2007 335i, I would agree that the Bridgestone runflats were harsh riding tires.

But since then, RFTs from certain manufactures (Michelin and Goodyear) have improved considerably.

The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP tires that I have on my current 335d are excellent tires. The Goodyear Excellence tires that were on a new 535i that I recently test drove are also good riding tires.

It remains to be seen whether the RFTs that will be supplied with the new E350 Bluetec will alter the ride of the car compared to the gas version of the E350. I would imagine that MB has retuned the suspension of the Bluetec version to compliment the RFTs.

Don't forget that all diesel MB SUVs for the NA market are now equipped with RFTs. This certainly hasn't hurt Bluetec sales in Canada which recently reached a record 78% of MB SUVs sold !!!

But back to the original topic of this thread, the only external changes for MY2011 will be the alloys. For Canadian models, five twin spoke AMG 18" alloys (Code 791) are standard on the E550 and optional on the E350s. The six twin spoke alloys are dropped. For the E350 Bluetec, staggered tires will be mounted on the optional Code 791 alloys.

Doesn't sound like too many upgrades from the '10 model. Great for "early adopters!"

I haven't heard about the COMAND changes you mention, where did you hear this? However, the headlamp switch designs already changed half way through MY10. There are two versions: one for cars without Bi-Xenons and one design for cars with Bi-X. Both have an always "Auto" position, there is no "Off" anymore. Both now use hard buttons for fog lamps instead of the pull out design of the previous switch.

Cars with no Bi-Xenons (front and rear fog lamp buttons):

Cars with Bi-Xenons (fog lamp button only for rear since no fogs in front):

Thanks for that ^^. Looks like my car has the new switch. Actually, the Fog button does turn off and on my LED's though, so in that case, I'm wondering if that means I still have the push-pull for the rear Fog-Light? I gotta try it.

I heard about the COMAND thing via some Website that listed supposed changes, not sure of the validity though. Hopefully that isn't the case, 'cause I'd be a little bit envious!

You have front fog lights, they are integrated in the headlights and activated when you turn on the rear fog light.

Is that only with intelligent lights or also with basic Xenons? I understood intelligent lights were not available in the US.

If the car has the fog light function from headlights, it is easy to notice when the left headlight turns a lot to the left when fogs are activated.

BMW 335i Coupe
My wife got her new E-Class Estate last Wednesday (July 7).
It has the new type of daylight running lights: a straight line of leds in a chrome stripe, instead of the former sidewise L-shaped DRLs.
The DRLs look similar (almost identical, on first sight) to the ones of the facelifted C-class.

Is this also part of the mid MY10 facelift?

I can post a pic, if interested.

That looks much better. I'm glad Daimler is paying attention. It sounds like they're listening to the feedback from the automotive press and consumers about the car.

By 2012-13, this car will be finally perfected.

(They're also now returning some things they initially cost cut on the first W212 E63 AMG)

imho, it's another reason for the old adage of 'never get the first year model' of anything.

Good question... I have the intelligent lights system so I can't tell. I've also noticed that if only the LED DRL's are turned on during daylight (A-mode) the Xenons will lit if you turn on the rear fogs.

Looks great, much better. The AMG Packs still have the L shaped fogs though for better or worse.

Yeah, that's the basic LED style as the rest of the M-B lineup now.

Any notable differences other than the LED's between the '10's and '11's?

Looks like our rants have done some good. And people always question why we criticize, when we all know complaints can get action.

M-B got the last laugh with me though, as I bought the thing anyway.

Wow! Significant improvement on those LEDs! You think there will be (or is) a kit we could buy to replace the 2010 hockey stick shapes to the 2011 straight lines?

Maybe aftermarket, but I don't think you can from M-B, considering the hockey sticks are still the way they're making them with the AMG Kits. Maybe if you have an Elegance version though.
