E 350 hesitation on cold engine start?
#26
I'm facing the same problem with my E350 2010. At the beginning, I thought that my car has a defect or something. Glad to hear that it's a common issue, though.
Also, I've noticed this "aggressive shifting" while driving on a high hill. You feel that the car suddenly breaks (soft one though) and pulls you back. It's really hard to explain.
Hopefully MB find a solution to such issues soon..

Welcome to the land of the 7G Tronic. M-B's never-perfect transmission.
My W211 had major problems with the 1-2 shift (when in "S"). My W212's is ALMOST flawless, but when in "S" (rarely, as I don't make the effort to switch it into it normally), sometimes the 1st-2nd areas get a little quirky and unresolved. Not so bad, but certainly not flawless.
Now M-B is planning a 9-Speed tranny next.

It seems like most 212 trany issues are with 4matics... I asked dealer to reflash tarnny memory the other day and they won't do it under warranty since there are "no codes"... Do you think that makes sense?

I have a 2010 4matic luxury and have not noticed this behavior.
But I am extremely gentle in first 1/4-1/2 mile because of the neighborhood and because I want to warmup by driving slowly.

I had e350 4matic luxury as loaner last week and it drives and shifts very smoothly. I am very gentle with it at least for the first 2 to 3 miles. My daily commute is just 10 miles (12 lights) 30 mins each way. The transmission used to be worse when I used to warmup the car in winter, i stopped doing that and the car shifts a little better now.
