The W211 indeed had no spoiler option (to be honest, the rear didn't require one as much IMO). I'm glad the W212 does though, as it certainly doesn't hurt.

The spoilers are indeed non functional, unless you get to speeds that none of us ever really do. If anything, they increase drag to our brilliantly aerodynamically engineered cars. For me personally, on my particular car and setup, the aesthetic was worth it, and I am normally one to pass on many aesthetics if they hamper functionality.

However, I don't see why an E63 should get a "pass" for one, and not an E350. In reality, the E63 has to get up to the same speed as the E350 would to get the functional aspects of the wing working.

I think your E350/E550 will look much cleaner without the optional rear spoiler. Take a look at the S63 AMG or the CL63 AMG, both of these cars don't come with rear spoilers. Even some E63's don't come with the rear spoiler.

Decision made: NO spoiler.

I like the clean option. Thanks for your input everyone. Plus that white E550 in the picture thread is awesome. Now comes the yes/no thread for pano LOL.

I was just joking with you... ...however this IS what you said in your original post... "If I get the spoiler it will be from the factory. Still leaning against it. I think the rear split seats are a better value."

What the he..! You made decision before I said nothing...just kidding.

I think there is a very easy way for you to make a really good and permanent decision. It seems you did already but hey, you didn't order your car yet...

Go to your MB dealer and ask then to park two E350s side by side one with and one without the rear spoiler. Preferably with same color. Then you can see and compare how they look.

I had this option and used it and after comparing the looks of the two cars there was no question in my mind if I want the rear spoiler or not. I definitely wanted one.

In my opinion the rear spoiler really enhances the looks of this awsome car but this, of course, is just my opinion.

Spoiler does not bring any functionality, it is just for looks with our crawling speeds.

I think it totally depends on the look your trying to achieve. I think a spoiler accentuates "sportiness" but it should not be used solely for that purpose. What I mean is don't add a spoiler to the luxury model with fat sidewall touring radials. It just doesn't cut it. If you have sport rims, sport pkg, etc.. then a spoiler will enhance the overall sport appeal but will still look good without one.

Philly .. I know you were kidding. Maybe I'm "spoilered out" with the E63. I really like the clean look of the W212 without it. I do not want this car to remind me of the E63. To me that is "been there, done that". Not that the E63 was a bad car. The spoiler was just an after thought when originally going for the E350. Not much thought there. Now I have a little time to think it over. I did some visual comparisons at the dealership. There are pros and cons either way you go.
