Are you happy with the color of your W212?

I was stuck between a few colors when I was picking the car up. Most of them were cancelled out because they lacked the packages that I wanted.

My main choices were between Arctic White, which is absolutely gorgeous on the W212 and of course the famous MB Black.

The only deal breaker I had was that the majority of W212s out here in NY are white, so I decided to go with black.

Afterall, there's no color that looks better when clean! (Unfortunately the clean lasts 20 minutes)

While, I'm really happy with my choice, I've come to realize that Iridium Silver with a black interior is absolutely gorgeous. If I had the choice again, it would be a hard decision!

I like my choice too: black.....
it is insane to try and keep it clean......so I just look out for the bird poo and
hope the rain will wash away most of he rest.......
I gave up trying to keep it spotless about a week and a half ago, LOL......
but once more of the leaves are down, it should start getting better....

Mine is steel gray. Last car was black and the one before that was arctic white. The black looked fantastic when clean but that was not very often. The steel gray is a good compromise -- it looks great clean and provides the richness and contrast that black offes yet is not as hard to keep clean.

Changed my mind twice, first black, then Steel Grey and finally Palladium Silver, love it

Very happy with it. Only "problem" would be how common the White is on the body style. However, I've learned to not allow what's common dictate how I feel about what's "nice", as it just ruins the experience. I think the little mods I've done, and the contrasting of black & white separates it from the crowd enough for individuality purposes.

At the same time, I love seeing W212's with unique colors, I'd love if M-B even added more colors to the option list (and if most of us M-B owners weren't so uncreative with our color selections. :D).

LOL K-A....
I'd love an odd color, problem is, they only have like 6 colors and they're pretty basic....
but then again so are most cars.......

K-A 11-24-2010 05:03 PM

Indeed. Oh well. History has proven, you can't go wrong with the core, most simplistic colors. They age great, and are sought on specific models, even decades after they're on the market.

At the same time, nice unique colors offered, are just as sought after, and show well through time in their own ways as well. I do wish M-B and car makers offered a bit more colors, variety is so important, and too many company's don't put enough emphasis on it.

Love my Steel Gray / Natural. Interior really does it for me!

It's true.

All those mods you did on your car really shine through in photos, it's stunning. I bet it looks better in person.

I'm considering getting 6000k HID put into mine as a first step.

Thank you!

Yeah, quality over quantity is my saying when it comes to mods. And NO mods beat having a shiny, clean ride!

Luv my Iridium Silver with a black interior...just turned a year old. At first I wasn't sure about going with the black interior but it makes one heck of a combination with the Silver. Also I like the Silver on my W212 much better than the Siliver I had on my W211.

Paladium Silver / Black Leather for me ... and no externally visible mods.

I love my cuprite brown with chestnut brown interior,I fall in love with it more and more everyday

El Cid 11-26-2010 09:51 AM

Started with Steel Gray based on website and brochure. Then looked at actual cars and changed to Palladium Silver. Steel was too dark for me. Palladium looks silver or medium gray depending on light.
One benefit I have noticed is that it barely shows dirt at all compared to other colors.
Got the gray interior. Do not like black interiors as they seem smaller to me, but that's me. One thing M-B should do is use medium carpets and rugs in cars with gray interior. Maybe a dark brown in cars with tan interiors.
The current gray carpets and rugs in my car are way too light and show dirt too easily. Will replace rugs with something from Auto Anything or AutoSport when they get too dirty.
Still very happy with the color combo I picked and would do same again.

I wanted Palladium originally but settled on Black with a black int, I couldn't find one at the time with the options I wanted. I think for the next one I may get a Designo color, either matte white (looks awesome in person! not so great in pics) or matte black

VALO 11-30-2010 11:47 PM

wish I would have gotten white, there wasn't a single white p2 with pano in florida so I settled for black on black on black. Swirl marks are a pain.

Not happy with color, always had black with ash interior

DoubleA 12-01-2010 11:03 AM

I'm very happy with my artic white on black/beige interior. I've always like white cars. My old W210 was black and it was hell to keep clean. I vowed not to buy another black car again although they look great.

Here's a little tip from a fellow black car owner Glaze is your friend. When your car is starting to show minor swirls and micromarring from washing and you don't want to get or do a full detail. Using a Glaze will camoflage the swirls, etc. it actually fills them. Then just apply whatever wax/sealant you normally use. Glaze is only a temporary fix and will eventually wash out but it's a quick fix and will keep you paint looking shiny. There is no substitute for a full detail with an orbital buffer and the correct polishes. But that is time consuming. A quality quick detailing spray is also really handy if the car is not too dusty.

I have Indium w/ Chestnut.. love it!

firefighter608 12-03-2010 06:52 PM

I was worried about my black on black S, then I realized we had three black motorcycles.
Also a black Raptor

petee1997 12-03-2010 07:15 PM

My wife has a silver with black interior and pano roof. It's a very generic car that can be found at any street corner.
I wanted something a little different. I have a Tanzanite Blue Met with almond and black interior and pano roof. It shines like a black car but when the sun hits it just right the high metallic paint turns practically to a dark purple. The contrasting interior gives it a sporty look. The downside is that it is as difficult as a black car to keep clean.

z28style23 12-06-2010 01:32 AM

love my steel grey 212. Black and white show all the dirt. THe steel greay hides it well and when its clean and it the sun you can see the metallic in the paint. Looks sick(good sick) and i get compliments all the time. :y
