Very nice, you did all the ultimate "clean" mods, which gives the car a minimalist, yet eye catching and unique vibe. Very well done.

K-A 12-04-2010 07:25 PM

Those plate holes in the front bumper just make me cry though. :(

SalTheMan 12-04-2010 07:42 PM

Indeeeeed so SEXY! Good job!

lyjw88 12-04-2010 09:44 PM

are those rims AMG reps?

BPhillyBenz 12-05-2010 07:07 AM

Very very nice!!! Great photography as well:y. I agree with Kevin, it's a shame the dealer put in the holes for the front license plate. Prior to my '11 coming in I requested "no holes" be drilled for a front plate... Thanks for posting!!!

DHI 12-05-2010 07:35 AM

Holy smokes !!
The wheels are awesome!
Talk to us about the wheels.

hyperion667 12-05-2010 08:06 AM

nice ride.....
and yeah, those holes suck!
I'm glad here in NC we only need the rear.....
I guess that's what the thing in my trunk is......a license plate holder??

enjoy your badge less car!

sack5000 12-05-2010 08:11 AM

Those wheels are $10,000, beautiful everything.

K-A 12-05-2010 08:17 AM

If I'm not mistaken, those rims are either genuine, or duplicate W211 E63 optional wheels (P30 Package maybe?). Maybe they're also available on the W212 E63, but I know that style was used on the W211.

Great looking wheels, although I'm not a fan of the "studs" lining the entire outer lip, but they give an interesting look nonetheless.

EmE247 12-05-2010 11:29 AM

W211

Thanks for the kind words.

Front license plate drill marks. Ya it sorta sucks that they drilled the holes into the front bumper, but they usually do that unless you get a custom. I'm gonna get them filled and painted in the near future. No big.

Wheels. The wheels are 19 x 8.5/9.5 genuine AMG wheels. They were an option upgrade wheel for certain classes. Think the ones I got were from an S or CLS class. I think they are the best looking AMG wheels out there atm. The option upgrade is something like $10K but I bought them used for a fraction of the price.

Think the only thing I need to do now is plug the holes and attach the spoiler that should be arriving shortly. After that onto the 63 engine. ;)

Dunno if this looks familiar to anyone but this was my previous ride.

Eme247...
Is it possible for you to read the offsets on those wheels?
What size tires front and back?

EmE247 12-05-2010 05:23 PM

Wheel Offset

Can't remember the offset. Wouldn't be able to find it without taking off the wheels.

But I have H&R 10mm spacers on front and back. The fit was right on for my W211 w/ the spacers and a bit aggresive on my W212 w/ the spacers. I might have to drop down a bit in size on the spacers.

K-A 12-05-2010 07:00 PM

I remember that W211! Wow, beautiful!

Edit: How do you like your W212 VS your old 211?

EmE247 12-05-2010 10:07 PM

W211 vs. W212

Not to get into too much detail about it...

But I loved the W211. I loved the way it looked better than the W212 at first. I also liked the way the W211 drove and felt driving. It seemed to have a lower center of gravity so it felt more like a sports car.

I love my W212 as well. I am starting to like the way the W212 looks better than the W211. Unfortunately the W212 drives a bit like a luxury sedan. More like the S Class. It sorta feels like driving a boat at times. The interior on the W212 is way better than the W211.

If I were to pickup an E63, I would prefer the W211. Can't imagine driving a boat w/ a 63 engine.

If I remember correctly those are 43mm. Or is it 46, no 43 I think.

A while back, OP posted this info about the dimensions of the wheel

I am digging those Performance wheels as well...:)

Now, a nice set of Brembo wil set them off nicely.

Your car looks really nice glad you're enjoying it. BTW in my opinio W212 can be a little boatish which is why I opted for 550 and lowered it, the performance is dramatically improved. Now on the other hand the W212 E63 is in a class above the the W211 E63 (maybe not in quarter mile performance but in most other areas IMO), had I wanted to spend the dough I would have gone after one of those. I am sure everyone has seen some of the great setup (of W212 63) like VIC55's, WOW.

What gave it away, the wheels, lowered suspension, or tints all around? :rolf:

At least wheels and tail lamps. Actually stock wheels look better for me.

VALO 12-07-2010 02:09 AM

What is the car lowered on? Eibach or H&R? Looks like a good drop.

EmE247 12-07-2010 10:13 PM

OFFSET: Offset on the wheels is 43 for all 4 from what I remember. Reason I had to use the spacer for fitment.

SPRINGS: H&R Sport Springs. Think there is only one for the W212 that is "sport". The car was dropped less then 2 days before the pictures were taken. Think the car dropped another 1/4-1/2" since then. I don't think it would be possible to drop it more with the offset of my wheels atm. I would have to downsize in spacer to have the wheels stick in the wheel well a bit more if I wanted it any lower. The 212 has a very nice smooth luxury ride and the Springs didn't take much away from it. When I had the same type of springs on my W211 with the same wheels, I could feel every bump/pothole/crack in the road. Not with the 212.

I could be wrong, but the difference between the 350 and 550 is the engine size. Not the suspension/handling/feel.

The boaty feeling I was referring to was more about the way the 212 drives and not the power behind it.

Vic55's 63 is sick. Hands down best 212 I've seen on the forums. But because of the boaty feel, I would just prefer the 211 63 because of the same suspension/handling/feel. Just my 2 cents.

fromthebeginnin 12-07-2010 11:33 PM

Hi, here are the differences in the suspension,

The 350 suspension:
Chassis

  • Front Suspension
  • 3-link McPherson strut. Stabilizer bar. Coil springs and gas shock absorbers featuring AGILITY CONTROL stroke-dependent damping system.
  • Turning radius
  • 36.2 ft.
  • Rear Suspension
  • Independent 5-arm multilink. Stabilizer bar. Coil springs and gas shock absorbers featuring AGILITY CONTROL stroke-dependent damping system.
The 550, uses the airmatic suspension

Chassis

  • Front Suspension
  • 3-link McPherson strut. Stabilizer bar. AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension with adaptive damping system. Electrically selectable Sport or Comfort modes.
  • Turning radius
  • 36.2 ft.
  • Rear Suspension
  • Independent 5-arm multilink. Stabilizer bar. AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension with adaptive damping system. Electrically selectable Sport or Comfort modes.

Suspension...

Probably should have done more research on the W212 before buying it. Never even took my car for a test drive. Was in and out of the dealership in less than an hour. Had them get the paperwork and car ready before I got there and did a 30 sec visual inspection before signing.

Guess it wouldn't have mattered anyays since I didn't have the $ to go 550.

49K for a 56.5K sticker, zero down and .9% financing. :nix:

I am however, very curious as to how the 550 drives.

K-A 12-13-2010 09:26 PM

Damn, that's a pretty good discount. Did you have any Loyalty type of discounts on top of the negotiating, etc.?

EmE247 12-14-2010 12:14 AM

Loyalty discount

I think the salesperson said they knocked off an additional 2k off of the price because I had a W211 that was also financed with MBFinancial.

K-A 12-14-2010 01:22 AM

Ah. Nice, unfortunately I didn't get that "rebate" from Financial crooks because I payed off my loan way in advance. I guess they don't reward ultimate responsibility.

EmE247 12-14-2010 12:22 PM

MB Financial

My W211 was financed w/ MBFinancial. I bought the car CPO from MB about 8 months ago and had all kinds of overheating problems. Hired a lemon law lawyer and got all my money back for all of the payments I made for the W211.

Of course I didn't mention that to my salesperson at the time of my purchasing the W212. :rolf: Returned the W211 2 days after picking up my W212.

Blue_Monster 12-17-2010 02:31 PM

Looks Great :y

The 550 drives great, the power difference/feel over the 350 is leaps and bounds. I initially was going to get the 350 but my concerns about the acceleration power and handling were proven with one test drive. I had driven an E350 coupe and it drives much tighter and quicker because it is a sport coupe/based on the C chassis (which I love) and 400lbs lighter. The sedan is much more of luxury commuter car as the sport package really only adds looks and not much to the driving experience.

As for the handling, the airmatic certainly works. The ride does get a little rougher on the sport setting but not that noticeable, it does makes a big difference in the curves and corners.

Overall, it is a great car and I cannot imagine being any happier in a 550i, GS450 or M56

Wow didnt ever expect to see this thread ever again...

Exact specs can be seen along with other mods if u click on my user name and check out the profile.

Better pics can be seen in the link below in my sig.

I'm debating between the H&R Springs and KW Coilovers...a petpeeve of mine is when the springs are higher on one side then the other...I like the drop on yours tho, in person is one side higher in the other?

EmE247 02-19-2012 01:58 PM

H&R Sport springs for the W212 a perfect. Even drop front and back.

I had H&R Sport springs for my previous ride, a W211. For some reason one end was like a 1/4-1/2" lower. Dont have that same problem with the W212.

illmike 02-19-2012 02:12 PM

thanks for the info!
