Thanks. That seems perfect. What are your offsets? And you're 4MATIC?

Also, how does all this effect your tire pressure monitor?

Removed the TPMS from stock wheels and installed in new wheels, bought TPMS from tirrack.com and installed in stock wheels.

So after all the great advice from everyone, I think I'm pulling the trigger and going for it. I'll be ordering a Renntech V3 module this week. I'll try it for a week and if no issues , I'll order my wheels. I plan to go for HRE P40's 20x8.5 all around. I do trust everyone that you can definitely stagger. I'm just a bit more conservative and also I'll be able to rotate the tires (HRE recommends running the same offsets front and rear). My major concern is that this would require 245/30's all the way around. I'm worried it is not meant to handle the load if you have lots of cargo in the back, but I assume since Tire Rack recommends this setup (in addition to a staggered option), I should be okay.

So I got the Renntech V3 module installed and it looks great when parked, but I hadn't turned the automatic return to stock settings off. So the car goes back to stock height after 30mph. It's also very slow to return to the lower setting once below 30. I will go and have the setting changed so it stays low all the time. I'll update how that goes and some new pics.

Can't you change the settings yourself? How much did the unit cost?

You can, except it's not that convenient to access it. You can buy a wireless tablet from Renntech for $700, which is a waste. My guys who installed it are going to run the USB into the dash, so I can connect my laptop that way. That will be about a $150 cost. The unit itself is $1400.

So here is the pic of the car dropped. It's a bit hard to appreciate. Removed front emblem for a flat one. Clear side marker. Tints. Removed chrome side strips. Just waiting on the wheels now.

Here is the updated pic of my car. So I finally went 20 x 8.5 all the way around HRE P40's with the satin silver finish with 245/30 all the way around. Basically, this is the safe move though I'm sure the staggered would work based on everyone's advice. I'll likely add spacers in the back. Chose not to stagger so that wheels can be rotated.

Looks good!! Yea I don't think I would like a car that drops down at every stop light then raises up once you hit 30mph. Stop and go traffic would play havoc on the system. There a system maybe the c-tronic that is remote control and another system that has 8 individual adjustments for the front and rear that you adjust from the dash. Not sure I would like to hook up a laptop everytime I wanted to try something different. BTW hows the ride now?

I agree. I set it to stay low (still lowers per MB specs at around 55) until it hits 92mph. I had the shop set up the usb so it's easy to access. Honestly, once I found the setting I liked, I kept it. You can buy an optional wireless tablet for the Renntech system if you want as I mentioned.

The ride?

I have to commend you on getting a nice set of forged rims. To me this car deserves nothing less and you have the peace of mind knowing you have some of the strongest rims underneath you, especially with a 20" rim. Only problem with a monoblock though is if you bend or curb them.

The ride hasn't changed much to be honest. I'm just a lot more careful about potholes etc. I've tried to be in denial of the damage potential or else I'd be with 19's. But I'm so happy I got 20's. The effect is much better.

Does anyone have any experience with spacers on 4matic cars. I hear H&R makes good quality ones but they don't even have 5mm ones for the w212 550's and very few for the 4matics in general. Any suggestions as to brands to look for? I wouldn't think spacers would have any effect on the 4matic function or really much effect in general given how small my offset would be.

A damn pickup truck
I'm just gonna bump an old thread that seems somewhat related to my question...

My stock wheels on my 2010 E550 4Matic are bent (bought it that way)... so I'm going to upgrade to some nice 19s.

I'm not interested in going staggered, but I'm curious as to what the optimum offset is for some 19x8.5s on this car to give me a bit of a more aggressive look. The ones I'm looking at are OZ Superturismo LMs, 19x8.5 with a 38mm offset. So, it seems to me these will sit out a little further than the factory wheels.

Can I go with a more radical offset though? Maybe 32-34mm?

I'm not planning on lowering the car at all. So I'm also wondering if anybody has pics of a 4Matic on 19s that isn't lowered... I want to be sure it doesn't look goofy.

I've searched and searched, but all I can really find is people arguing about whether or not you can go staggered on a 4Matic.

I agree with threeMBs. I had 20s on my E550 4matic with no issues. Offset is critical. I used nitto nt555 235/35/20 and 275/30/20. Almost identical diameter. Just took delivery of my new Work wheels (waited 12 weeks) and Vredestein Vorti tires in same sizes as before. It can be done. My stock wheels are 18s all around. MB says 33psi front and 36psi rear. With front bearing more of the weight due to the 8cyl will this not mean rolling diameters are a tiny bit off? Something to think about.

For lowering.... forget the modules.....just get a set of good quality lowering links. Got mine from Ebay for $120 and ask your shop to pop them in for you during next oil change.
