Since they update the Comand when I turn on headlights not in Auto mode, complete to on position with DRL activated and fog lights pulled on out all four round lights turn on. Ill have a picture to show it.

After reading this thread, I had the update installed Wednesday here in San Diego. They were very good about making the update as a warranty issue. The biggest improvement I noticed is I can now easily update the contact information from my Droid phone. As everyone has mentioned the scale bar reads in fractions now (1/2 mi) and the traffic condition symbols are smaller.

I was able to stream bluetooth audio from my IPOD...but when doing so, COMMAND is not connected to my phone. So my question is...can only one bluetooth device be connected at a time?

My second issue is that I have been unable to view the climate data on the screen. My 550 is a 3/10 build if that makes a difference. Thanks for your discussions!

As soon as you adjust the temperture or fan control, the Comand Unit should show the data on the very bottom of the screen. Good luck.

You can have multiple bluetooth devices paired with your COMMAND head unit but only one of them can be active. So, in my wife's car she has her iPhone paired and my iPhone paired (meaning the COMMAND unit knows of both phones). However only one of the phones will be able to receive phone calls via the headunit. You can look at the list of paired devices under the bluetooth menu and set which one you'd like to set as active.

You need to make some changes to the climate control and the new values will appear on the bottom of the screen and then disappear after a few seconds. Try raising or lowering the temperate and you'll see it.

This makes sense. Does anyone have experiance with how long the changeover from one paired device to another takes?

Does anybody know what is MB's official policy on this BT update?

As I understand the "true" 2011 E350 has the working BT audio and the car comes with a COMAND manual with BT audio instructions. It seems they build some cars like 2010 models but sell them as 2011 models, i.e no working BT audio and no word of it in the COMAND manual.

Is MB going to authorize dealers to enable BT audio for cars that were sold as 2011 models but were actually build as 2010?

I brought my car in and told them to update the command with the telematics cd mentioned in this forum. They came back and said it does not apply to my car, 2010 E350 P1. Is it possible only certain 2010s it applies to, or is the dealer BS'ing me. I can just take it to another dealer.

Update FAIL for MY 2010 !!
Okay just an update of my 'update' quest. I took my car into the dealership closest to me, ( FJ), and demonstrated the streaming bluetooth capability to the technician. Needless to say he was clueless about the availability of this feature . I showed him how I had to re- pair the phone to the command everytime I restarted the vehicle,he agreed this was a nuisance. He then pulled up a MY 2011 212 with the most updated software and sure enough I did not have the problem of re-pairing.The phone stayed paired.Yipee right? Just a matter of installing whatever version of software the 2011 had to my 2010.Nope, they had my vehicle for 2 days and finally concluded that the latest version software was not compatible with the 2010 MY.Apparently ,only the early MY 2011s can be updated? If anyone with a MY 2010 has succesfully had this done please let us know. Im still reserving the option of taking it to the dealership I got it from and let them have a go.Its really not a big deal to me, Im happy enough that it works but will be nice if it did not have this issue.Keep this in mind those of you with MY 2010s inquiring about the update regarding the climate controls showing up on the command.

Tried to sync my iphone to my BT last night and it wouldn't locate it. Called the dealer today for appt tomorrow morning. I have a 2010. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Took my car this week to my mercedes dealer to get the command update. Initially they told we there was none, after I showed them this thread the sa and sm said they would get back to me. Was called the next day and told they have the disc but since there is no official recall and that my info source is an unofficial site (ie. this site) they would install it but I had to sign a waiver stating if anything goes wrong with the command center in the future it would not be covered by warranty. I refused to do so. No other dealer locally. Will write to MB about this (I told them that and they said go ahead) any other ideas. Was blown away as their service has always been excellent.

Hi Sneuman,

I went to dealership and complained specifically for "Audio Bluetooth Mulfunction" issue. Bottom line, You really need to complain and really believe that this is a warranty issue. I managed to do this and have the proof that this was covered under warranty. Here is the link and the receipt for all the warranty work on that day.

This has nothing to do with official recall or service bulletin.
I did not have to do a waiver.

Secondly, please complain to Mercedes-Benz.. Their attitude is absolutely unacceptable..period!

I have my car being serviced now and asked for this update and I was told it would cost me 250.00. I was outraged. I told them how several members here have had it done free under the warranty and my SA told me he couldnt do anything. I have to pick up my car today. Should I pressure them to do this or should I go to another dealer ? I kinda regret going to this dealer for service but it was convenient for me this time.

I sent the SA Mgr an email with all the info from this thread and the update info so I'll see what they say but yes I wont be going back there and will make a complaint when I get there to pick up my car. Thanks.

I'm going to make sure to have a confirmation via phone that they are aware of this update, will do it to my car, and will do it under Warranty, before I even go for service. If a Dealer tells me they won't do it, I'll probably just go elsewhere.

I just tried to get the update installed on my car, they had the car for 3 days (I had issues with the active bolster leaking), got it back, and it stated that Command updates are only for issues.

I argued with the guy and will bring the car back on Friday, but need to have an actual issue so they can do it. I'm planning on complaining that my iphone keeps disconnecting, does anyone have a solid issue that is definitely solved by this update?

On the Bulletins Thread there's a DTB for people having a hard time hearing you via Bluetooth, which calls for an update. I plan on throwing them a cocktail of issues. Saying that my Phone doesn't always connect, and that people have a hard time hearing me via Bluetooth (w/ the DTB), and that the sound occasionally cuts out/delays when listening to the Radio (kind of true, as the HD sometimes skips back a couple of seconds). I'll probably think of other things too.
