Mercedes bench c class
Hi All,
Grateful if any one could help me, I have Mercedes-Benz C-Class car. I wanted to play mp3 music through the command APS. i bought Ex-Pro® PCMCIA Compact Flash Card Adaptor for Mercedes COMAND APS systems (S E C GLK Class) and i tried many ways (I used with scan disk SDHC card 4GB, Samsung sd adapter, and 1GB MLC SD pure media card with mp3 music in it) but the command system doesn’t recognise or some reason not working.

Read the previous posts in this thread, including mine.In a nutshell,my experiments showed that my Comand system was picky regarding which adapters and memory cards would work.I did manage to procure both an SD/Memory stick adapter that worked (but it wasn't the MB branded one) and I did get a 32GB CF,32GB SD and a 16GB Memory stick to work perfectly.I've detailed my findings in various previous posts.Do a search if you have the time.

To whom this will concern:
Just purchased 2011 CPO e 350 black w/ mocha interior
Came with iPod aux connectors
I desired the USB jack but what to do
I do find generic, but absolutely works cable USB adapter
Some cowboys would go "
Ye Haaaaaaaaa! You know why?
Fifteen bucks, that's why on amazon
It even works with my Sony MP3 players
Forget PCMCIA!
So let's recap: Bluetooth, check,iPod, check, hardrive, check,cd's check, aux, check, and now USB, huge CHECK!!

Can you access more than 1,000 tracks? Folks have reported limitations with the usb compared to pcmcia. Also, can you post a link to what item you purchased?

Hey,
Not up on posting the thread thing but got it on amazon
Made a company called Rio Rand
As far as 1000 song limitation unsure as have somewhere under 300 songs on it
You're supposed to be able to use hardrives as well
But right now I'm elated that I can any of my songs this way
I have noticed some songs being skipped over not sure what that's about
But for the money I paid not that big a deal with me
If I had my way I'd have an iPod USB cable that would be awesome

Make sure any card you stick in is formatted FAT32 or it will NOT work.

Take care,

George

Sorry to rekindle an old topic…. But based on my testing it seems that playlists do not work for the PCMCIA cards.

They do however seem to work for the media connector in the glove compartment (at least for my iPod nano).

I used .m3u playlist files on the PCMCIA media card, and it seemed to ignore them. I haven't tried other playlist file formats, but am pretty sure .m3u files don't work.

If anyone else has figured this out. let me know.

Some helpful hints when setting up the PCMCIA memory card:
  1. As many have pointed out, use a SDHC compatible PCMCIA card. I was able to put in a 64GB SDHC card with no problems.
  2. If you get a "no files found error" on the COMAND System, Make sure the SDHC card is formatted for MSDOS FAT32. It seems most new SDHC Cards are formatted for VFAT or VFAT32, which COMAND does not recognize. Simply reformat the SD card on you PC or Mac, and you are good to go.
  3. Because of the lack of playlists on the SD Card, it is best to preserve the iTunes folders structure of the music on your SD Card, instead of putting all the files in one directory. This way you can at least play your music by artist / album, although it can be tedious to navigate between folders… i have 55GB of music on my card.

SD cards are pretty cheap, you can pick them up for under $5 for a 4 GB card. It'd be easy to get half a dozen and put different collections of songs on each one. Then you just pop the one you one it - a giant play list.

Not quite as convenient as everything on one big card, but not bad either.

And you could store a few of hundred SD cards in your glove box ;-)

I was able to successfully use a 128GB SD card. However, the COMAND system would only recognize 14000 songs or what equated to around 80GB of data. I feel fairly confident that this is probably the limit of how much music you can can carry with you on an SD card.

CORRECTION
The actual limitation seems to be 80GBs of data, regardless of what type it is. For example, I maxed out to 80GBs of data and that equated to ~12500 songs and all the cover art for that same music in .jpg format. I have not tried it but I assume you should be able to delete all the cover art to maximize the number of songs you can fit, and also lower the quality of your MP3s from say 320 to 192 and be able to fit more MP3s into the allotted 80GBs.

Hi everyone, have a dumb question... Just bought a PCMIA SD card adapter and 16 GB sandisk SDHC card off amazon. The PCMIA says it'll read SDHC Cards. I put music on the SDHC card via my Mac, in MP3 format. When I plug it in my car, the comand system reads the file names (song titles) but then says "no playable music". Car is a 2010 E350, SD Card is in Fat32 format, I'm at a loss for what could be the issue. Could it be because I'm using a Mac to load music on my SD card? Or what else could it be? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW this is the PCMIA adapter I purchased.

pcmcia card

I used a pcmcia card (with 32gb sd card) in my 2011 E550, I have since traded the car in for a 2014 E350 and not longer use the pcmcia card, as the car accepts the sd card directly.
Anyone in the SE Penn area interested in the pcmcia card?
