Thinking about getting 2014 E350

Hey Guys,

Looking into buying a 2014 E350 Sedan. Car is well maintained, 1 owner has most of the packages. Including massage seats, LED headlights, parking assist, panoramic roof, and the 360 camera. The person wants 18k and the car has 46k miles.

1- Anything to watch out for?
2- Is this a good deal?
3 -How reliable are these cars?
4- Anything else?

Thank you for your time and recommendation.

The prices is in line with what I see in my area.

Are you coming from a C class? If so, you'll like the E350 much better.

Good luck.

I think this is a good value considering the equipment. 18k would be a decent value for a typical lease return special without LED headlights, park assist, or massaging seats. The only major options you are missing is Designo/leather interior and Driver Assistance Package. It is a very nicely equipped car. I think you will enjoy it greatly.

You very much want the dynamic LED headlights. Especially as you can now activate the full Intelligent Lighting System, preciously unavailable in North America due to regulations.

The dynamic LEDs are not known to be unreliable, but I would give them a good inspection for damage and moisture. Any repairs necessitate replacing the entire assemblies and they are terrifyingly expensive.

Some 2014s have problems with melting speakers in the Harmon Kardon system. I would check the function of the drivers and listen to the system.

Generally the W212 is reliable as is the V6 engine. Care for it well and you’ll have a wonderful vehicle for many miles to come.

Another thing to note - what wood does the car have? The light colored burled walnut is known to fade in the W212 over time. This applies to all models 2010-2016. Replacing it is not cheap.

2014 E350 & 2017 GLE 400
Best car decision I have made, switching fom a 2015 C400 to a 2014 E350. Other than purchasing a low mileage highly optioned 2017 GLE 400 for my wife. Seems as though that is a fair price with the options you listed. Another item to inspect is if it has MBTex seats the seams in the front seats can separate over time. Had my drivers seat bottom replaced under warranty. If done at a MB dealership it will run you around $800. Other than yearly maintenance my car has been fault free since I purchased it in 2016.

That's good to hear - how many miles you got now?

Just rolled over 54K, purchased on March 17th 2016 with a little over 18K miles. I'm impressed everyday on how smooth the ride is. Been following your impressions on the ILS, most likely going to purchase from Vladimir within the next week, already confirmed it works for my car.

Purchased my 2016 on 12/31 at 29k miles and have just over 37k now. Factory warranty expires 10/11/20 and CPO 10/11/2023. I paid for the extension, but was told I could get a refund. Am considering it because these cars seem so reliable. Still have some time to decide.

As for the ILS - you will not regret that. If you live in a rural area instead of a city, it changes night driving significantly.

My CPO warranty expired January 31, 2019 and other than normal maintenance and the driver's seat bottom being replaced under warranty for tearing at the seam. I haven't had any issues. We just replaced my wife's 2016 GLE 350 with a fully loaded GLE 400 premium 3 package with multi-contour seats with massage. The factory warranty expires December 31st of this year. Being that it has distronic and massaging seats I read the warranty forum and found the recommended finance directors who typically offer the best pricing on extended warranties. Emailed 3 of them and each replied the next morning and got a great quote on a 3 year 75K mile MB warranty. Which I'll probably purchase for a little peace of mind.

1. Engine and tranny mounts are age dependant, not just miles. (This will not be identified by the dealer during the 150+ point inspection).
See if they need to be changed (Put the vehicle facing forward in Park and see if you feel vibrations).
2. Plan Timmy Trumpet Freaks with good volume to see if there are any issues with speakers. Same with the first few seconds of Timbaland Apologize song.
3. Check all the cameras working fine.

Did the owner pay for ELW? I'm not sure that is per car or person - please make sure about that.

Also, once you purchase the car, buy 3-pack PPM. Spark Plugs and tranny fluid are due soon per miles if the owner didn't perform those services based on age. Brake fluid change as well I believe. Please check the manual.
