Talking Service B completed

Alright, so I got done with the B service today......at my best indy shop,
which included oil change and filter, reset service indicator, corrected all fluids and tire pressures...
I didn't have the climate control filter changed because it was spotless, and passed on the brake flush too, upon recommendation, because it was still crystal, that saved me 77 bux for the flush, but I did bring the new CC filter home for next time.
Total cost was 112 for the oil and stuff, and 107 for the labor......a total of 226.56! And it always feels great to not go to the dealerand besides, you can't get the kind of converstaion and attention to details at a dealer that you can at a small indy shop, this is the same one that did my side mirror mod-https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...irror-mod.html-

here are a couple pix of the CC filter if you wanna see 'em....the thing is huge...

thanx for looking

I could be wrong but I suspect that Service B would be noticeably more expensive for a Bluetec.Oh well.....

Only MBs - the best or nothing
All above could have been done in the comfort of one's garage or driveway for less than $80 (oil and filter) and all in less time that it takes to bring a car to/from a service facility.

I have had five cars with cabin filters. On all the others, the owner's manual explained how to change it as owner maintenance. Took 10 minutes or less on each one. Why did M-B make theirs so complicated (and expensive)?

I would have not passed the brake flush if it's been a year or so, fluid remains clear, but it is extremely hygroscopic; it's pretty easy to do with a power bleeder, but triggering the ABS can be difficult.

Actually, most manufacturers recommend changing the brake fluid every two years, regardless of mileage. Like thekurgan said, you can't tell the condition of brake fluid - or most other fluids - by color alone.

Yes, agree, manufacturers are less aggressive with respect to brake fluid, it's one cheap, yearly piece of maintenance that can save thousands down the road.

very interesting.....and a good point, it's only 77 for the flush, but I thought I was doing well , by saving a few bux, hope this doesn't hurt me in the long run, I love my 550..........more than the 63 actually......
I am reserving that other special place in my heart for the cls

Cheap insurance, you can even supply your own fluid, like ATE's Gold or Motul 600, although, this is probably mostly a labor charge and activation of the ABS unit.

Why? I gave you perfectly good advice. It isn't my fault that you are too immature to learn from your mistakes and move on.

I will continue to post as I see fit. If I feel that I have something to add to a discussion then I will. You're the one that keeps dragging out skeletons.
