Have the insides been fogging? Both mine (P1 stock halogen) and my friends (e63) fog from the inside of the headlights

I asked MBUSA and they said it only would void the warranty on the portion of the car they can prove is affected - which they indicated is kinda tough to prove unless it is something very obvious. So if your lighting circuitry gets fried, then you would have to pay for it yourself even if the car is still under warranty.

I recently installed the morimoto hid's. I went through the headlight compartment (plastic housing containing parking lights, high beams, and headlights), and placed the ballasts and all inside that compartment. Took about 40 minutes total without taking off wheel well or anything. The driver side is a PITA but is doable.

Hey guys I just installed 6000k parking LED's and I'm putting a 6000k HID kit on my 2012 E. My question, is there a way to change my straight LED strip fog lights bulbs to match the 6000k bulbs? They look yellowish 4300k.

COuld you elaborate a bit for me? I am about to install this weekend and am totally open to an easier method! I have installed many of these kits over the years on other makes, but have never had to remove a wheel. If not going through the wheel well, how do I access from the top? ALso, were you saying you just stuffed everything (wires, plugs, etc) into the original light housing? I have heard others say this as well. I appreciate any more detail you might provide. Thanks!

That's a 194 wedge LED. You'll need canbus units. Plug is accessible from the rear.

2014 e350... Bought the 2015 xenon headlights from hella

Hi

I recently purchased a 2014 e350 but wanted to upgrade the headlights lights to the 2015-2016 xenon lights, however after purchasing the control ballast and programming it we realised the headlights do not come on😳.
Secondly, unlike the 2009-2014 model which have the easy access cap behind the headlights to change bulbs, the 2015 - 2016 model has no 'cap'opening for the headlights in order to check whether there are any bulbs in .

Can anyone help me with more information on how to solve this issue?

You could then push the retaining clip up over the wires to the bulb.
Since the car is leased and will be going back in about a year and a half, I DID NOT WANT TO MODIFY THE ORIGINAL BULB RETAINING CLIP (the clip with the two metal extensions that get caught behind the housing's metal flaps), so I decided to buy another set of aftermarket clips:

I modified the stock bracket, but it did not look like its going to hold the bulb in place. It felt a little lose to the touch, nothing like OEM one.

Has anyone had any luck with these aftermarket brackets? I really don't want my headlights disconnecting while driving.

Are there any better alternative clips?

I had the same issue with the stock clips - took me 30 minutes on each side to twist/ bend/ alter those into place - the morimoto HID bulbs have a bigger plastic base than the stock bulbs. Morimoto should include a metal clip that fits the H7 HID bulb with the morimoto kit and it would be a 45 min install instead of a 2 hour install. I took the wheel off on the passenger side too knowing it would be crazy difficult to get that metal clip to turn into place. Looks great though - very happy with the end result and thankful for the OP's write up.

2 Questions

I'll make this short and sweet.

1. I bought a 2011 E350 in May and from what I have read so far I believe it is a W212 body style. How do I tell if it is a P1 or a P2?

2. Do you know of any websites that tell exactly which headlight colors are legal in the state of Virginia?

By the way, amaycg you did an amazing job detailing this procedure! I am going to use this within the next couple of weeks to do my install.

Hey! Since it's been a while after you replaced you bulbs, I was wondering if you had any issues with having the ballasts in your headlights? The heat of the ballast didn't damage anything?

dust cover is cheaper to replace, and easier to seal around the grommet. Also easier to drill.

I've had the Morimoto 35w kit in my car for about 2 yrs now. Works perfectly. Bulbs used are 6k.
Also had to fiddle with the aftermarket bulb clips to get them to hold tight. Drilled the dust covers as mentioned above, used the wiring grommet and a bit of weatherseal tape. No issues with any dirt getting into the housings. That driver side is a pain lol.
Edit - in my case the ballasts are outside (below) the housings.

6k is a better match with the drl than 5k right? Btw, i have a lot of questions about these clips but i didnt ask because I might be able to answer myself when i take a look at them. So are they like a metal bracket that folds down to hold the bulb? Or just something you would add to the bulb base to make it fit in the opening?
BTW, regarding that driver side, I've heard a lot of complaint about how difficult it is to handle, but it really very easy to do from the wheel well, no? I've watched some video and there seems to be more room to work with the headlight than from the passenger side...
