My E-Class flirting with a CLS (Pics)....

.... Well, actually considering they're related, that'd be incestuous. I tend to think that seeing them next to each other looks like Brother E and Sister CLS just hangin'....

No prob man! Glad to share. Drove by the place and looked like a crazy person as I snapped those pics, but I am one to never turn down a good side by side pic show!

Indeed, that's a CLS in the 4th pic as well.

I actually haven't had a chance to drive the new CLS yet (drove the previous CLS550 and CLS55 AMG, which the latter was a riot), but I just can't get past how my head jams against the roof even with the seat all the way down with my 6'4 height.

LOL. Gotta find a way to throw a wheels theme in every Thread.

.... Actually, speaking of which. Notice how much more wheel gap the CLS550 has than the E-Class. Obviously Airmatic related and also why the E-Class steel-suspension rides so much rougher over harsh roads.

Yeah, mine is Arctic White which is creamier/wamer compared to the CLS's Diamond White (the only white you can get on the CLS).

In the shade, Arctic is more creamy/yellow looking, but oddly enough, in the sun, I think Diamond is actually supposed to be more yellow-creamy.

if you ask me, i'd prefer arctic white now after comparing the two in your pics. the diamond white looks too common/ordinary, nothing really special. i have yet seen that in person. i could be wrong.

I agree! My GF said the same thing when she saw the pics.

You know, I park my E next to a bunch of white cars. A Nissan white, Chevy white, Volkswagen white, Lexus white, Honda white, and my cars white is BY FAR the most "different of all of them". All are typical super-Delivery Van-white, but my Arctic White seems to have so much more depth and warmth than them with its creamy tone. Same goes for it VS BMW's very hyper-white and Audi's as well.

However, I believe starting with 2013 MY's, M-B is going with super-white as well as Arctic White will get discontinued for Polar White (which will be less warm-creamy).

I've always loved Arctic White's "milky swirl" look as I like to call it. For a white, it's very deep (which whites are not by nature).

Glad you enjoy!

Yeah, I had the white portions tinted with a pretty light tint. My previous 2 E-Classes I had the red portions tinted (with the white portion left alone, more of a typical modded setup) which I also really love when done lightly enough, but decided to try something different on this one.

That does seem to be the case. It's become my favorite pastime. I was actually near there to drive a Mustang, and passed by the M-B dealership. My ultimate fav is test driving cars. You can be your own car reviewer for free (just gotta deal w/ the salesman).

Nice comparison. I like the white on the E too. It is a bit softer. In the last photo it looks like the right front wheel on the E has some serious curb rash.....or maybe it's just the photo reflections?

Looks great and I like the white on your car far better than the other. Where did you get the roof wrap done and what did it cost ya? I have the same E and like the look. I did not want the pano because I like the shade on the single roof better. thanks

Not sure about the CLS.. but the sport version of the E-Class / Sport Pkg has a 1 inch lower than stock suspension.

Totaly agree with you on the color statement! In Norway Artic white is called Calcite white! Warmer white then white diamond, but in the sun ours looks more white actually

Thanks. Yeah, unfortunately you're seeing right. I massacred that wheel (even slashed the tire once) a couple of times. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but it got hurt.

Thanks. I got it done by someone who specializes in wrapping, it's the 3M gloss wrap, I think I paid $250? It was somewhere between $200 to $300 (under $3 for sure though).

Yeah, looks like the CLS550 Sport since it has Airmatic has a "standard" height, big wheel gap while the E350 Sport has a nice tight stance.

I don't unfortunately. However, it looks like the CLS is getting deals akin to the E-Class considering its asking price, i.e good value'd deals. Also I've been to that dealer before and they do seem aggressive which is good if you want to bargain.

EDIT: Amayc, I just checked on their Website. Looks like $999 with over $5K down on a 39 month Lease is their "official deal", of course, always room to work off of that. To me personally, considering how strong the E-Class is in my eyes, I personally can't justify that price on a CLS!

Thanks! I'm such a lame-a$$.... it's my favorite thing to do!

The E and CLS actually have the exact same wheelbase (CLS is on the E-Class chassis), but M-B loves to tout how the CLS is "a few inches longer". Funy thing is, that almost unnoticeably extra length is all in the overhangs, i.e the E has the same wheelbase but shorter overhangs (which technically speaking, is a nicer proportional recipe). Why the CLS "appears" longer is due to the lower/sleekened roofline and army-tank slit greenhouse.

if they share the same wheelbase, would a CLS aftermarket wheel spec fit our car?

Hahaha. My GF's eyes are practically stuck in the back of her head, after all the rolling due to this.

Last night I saw a white 650i Coupe with M-Sport package parked after a rare night where we made it out to a nice dinner. Right now, my E-Class is my ideal car, really couldn't think of anything that I'd want more, that doesn't cost a significant amount more, at least. That exact 6-Series setup is one of the very few cars that currently can sway me away once my Lease is up (if I don't buy my car out, which I might do, but this particular decision goes in 180 degree motions in my head).

I drove by it, and asked.... "you wouldn't get toooo mad if I pulled over next to it and analyzed how it looked next to my car....?". Naturally, she showed resistance, then surprisingly, a window of opportunity.... DONE, pulled over, hopped out, and like a crazy person, scanned the "is this thing worth more than my car to me" aspect (I love the new 6er, but actually think E's design is currently "more my thing"). Unfortunately, it was too dark out so pics weren't in order.
