E350 Upversion Complete

Now that the SL55 is gone, I decided to have fun with my daily driver. Besides lowering it, i am basically done playing with it. Just came back from vegas fully loaded and was very impressed at how well the car performed. I will probably de-badge the car, but it was fun seeing people's reactions, including the salesmen at Mercedes dealership .

Mods:
Custom fitted and lengthened front seats with White diamond stitching
E63 Front bumper (Thx to Gary - Suvneer)
Hid Lights
CF Rear wing
CF Bumper trim (Thx to Gary - Suvneer)
Quad AMG Muffler tips Rep ($700)
AMG OEM Aluminum paddles
Black out paint for interior to replace wood
19" 10 Spoke Wheels (did not to do 20's because of ride compromise)
AMG door Pins
AMG Aluminum Pedals
30% Tint

Left to do:
H&R lowering Springs (maybe won't- Don't want to compromise ride)
Tune
Muffler electronic shutoff ( a bit more sound, when i want it)

I have over 200 photos of the mod, so if you want access them online just IM me.

Criticisms or Praise are welcome

Here are a few:

1 day old car:

The ultimate poser car: with money spent, one could have bought a real E63 or at least E550.

Well not really, because all this was $6K (not 40K), and i travel 20K miles a year, so MPG important to me, but I expected that... thereby my debadge comment! As owner of multiple SL55 since 2003, I always made fun of rebadging by SL 500 owners. Besides money better spent on mods to Bentley.

Beautiful Rims and well done mods. I agree with you newer Direct Injection V6 on 2012 and Up E350 comes with enough HP and better Fuel economy, E550 gives you drag race type of HP that you would hardly use and have to deal with costly Airmatic issues likely surface down the road.

The car looks amazing but like the others stated I don't understand the reason to badge it as something it's not. Why not simply remove all the badging?

To the OP: NICE MODS
To Everyone Else:
He obviously put the badge on because he's trying to make it look like an E63 AMG.
HONESTLY PEOPLE, WHY DOES EVERYONE CARE ABOUT THE BADGE?
SO WHAT?!?!?!?
I can put an SLS AMG badge on my E350 if I wanted to...In fact, I just might
WHY WOULD YOU CARE???!?!?!? NORMAL PEOPLE DON'T CARE! If I went to my neighbor right now and told them that I put an E63 badge on my E350, it wouldn't/shouldn't affect them...Jeez people

"The ultimate poser car: with money spent, one could have bought a real E63 or at least E550."
Why not just stick a badge on it? Not everyone is a millionaire and can spend money on E63's at the drop of a hat. Why do you care about the badge? Don't look at it if you don't want to!

"Beautiful car ruined by idiotic badging."
In case you weren't aware, the E class comes in an E63 AMG model. That's why he has a badge saying E63 AMG. If he put E65 AMG, that would be stupid. Please check your facts on the E class before calling his badge "idiotic." In case you have never heard of the E63, which obviously you haven't because the badge seems "idiotic" to you, please visit your dealership.

I think he did a pretty good job. Could you do better? It's okay to admit you're jealous that he did pretty awesome AMG mods to it.

Trust me, I'm no more jealous of that car than I am of the guy with the cheesy woman with fake breasts or the guy that feels compelled to list every car he drives in his signature as if it gives him some status.

Amaycg, are you a personal injury/ego attorney? Why do YOU care what others say? The OP did not mind, did he? In fact, he already expected it.

"I think he did a pretty good job. Could you do better? It's okay to admit you're jealous that he did pretty awesome AMG mods to it." - Not at all. No problems with AMG mods, except the badging. I bet all G37 (new accord/maxima/Es350, etc.) owners must think that its the slowest E63 around (or the slowest driver in it). Its one thing to do body modification. Its absolutely fine. Wrongful badging is something else - false image. To me its no different from a dude I saw the other day in a pre-2000 CLK320 with an AMG badge. Rediculous.

Gosh. I care because I like cars and he's falsifying what his car is. Why do you care that I care? I'm entitled to my own opinion and that's how I feel about it.

No I'm not jealous. Not one bit.

Let me clarify since you're obviously to obsorbed with yourself to realize what I meant. The physical "E63" and "AMG" isn't idiotic, It's idiotic because it's on a car that isn't an E63.

BTW to the OP, you didn't even put on the correct AMG badge. If you pose, at least get the details right.

HID lights? did you retrofit Factory HIDs? If so can you outline the steps for doing so. I have that on my list for my first mod.

Quadruple thumbs down until you debadge. Don't forget the V8biturbo badge.

What kind of seat is that in the 7th pic down on the driver's side? Is it from a BMW?

I don't care about E63 AMG conversion but I like to see Gary sold some stuffs and make some money
Well, honestly those pedals look cheap and very tacky , the owner should have bought original AMG pedals imo

I have a 2010 E550 with the hockey stick front. Love the looks of it. There is one mod I could think of doing to it in the rear- the exhaust tips.

How do the AMG double tips mount on the tail pipe? Doesn't AMG actually have 4 pipes and not just two?

I would like this mod as it would really enhance the looks of the car in the rear, not to fool anybody it being an AMG. I would still keep my real E550 badge on the trunk.

Im sorry, I cant stand people that use other badges on there benz's. You cant afford the real thing so dont make a fake one out of it. Its like wearing fake designer cloths. ITS NOT REAL!!!!! There is nothing wrong with the car you have now and people dont care if your driving a amg or not. I would not be caught dead in this car. I would be so ashamed of driving it or even looking at it. with the money spent on the badges, tail pipes etc its also a financial disaster. You should literally have be banned form buying any other benz.

REsponse to thread comments

Wow - , woke up quite astonished at how controversial this would be , but never realized the extent of it. Having been a member for 10 years and an avid mercedes (and AMG) owner, I realize the passion that we fans have, and as is evidenced from the threads, we are an opinionated bunch and not shy to express ourselves accordingly. I expected the response and welcomed it.

As my initial thread stated "I will probably de-badge the car, but it was interesting seeing people's reactions" i wanted to shake up the emotions on the street, but i got a bigger response on the site, and that makes it fascinating to me -

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!.

Heck, I m probably one of the only original SL55 owners in 2003, when I preordered it from Germany 9 months in advance to have them completely DE-BADGE the car, so that it would be more of a sleeper. On my subsequent ones I left the Badges on.

AS i mentioned in my original thread, I expected the response and welcomed it. Thank you all for your input. It takes takes time, effort and money to tune our cars, so thank you for those that recognize the work that went into it and the praises, as for those with strong badging opinions, well i have to agree with you, the car looks better De-badged. and that is my next MOD - and might I say the cheapest one yet!

It actually is sold with one rear pipe in the rear. YOu have to cutoff the ones from the car anyway to fit these on. I am very pleased at how it came out.
