Has anyone actually opened up the inner door (removed the "door card") to add sound deadening to the inner door skin? I would think drilling out the rivets and then re-riveting wouldn't be that difficult.

I had to look at the rear floor photos a couple of times...Looked for a minute there like you covered up the fuel pump access panels with speakers.

Speaker Size

Do you remember what size are the speakers on the W212? I found a video on youtube describing how to upgrade the speakers on a C-Class but I assume that the E-Class speakers are bigger. Nice DIY by the way. Very helpful.

Sorry to revive an old thread, however, could anyone confirm if the speakers in the door are 4 ohm or 2 ohm?

Probably doesn't matter now as I haven't been following this thread but the tweeter is a 1", midrange is small around 2.5" and the midbass driver 6.5". If guys have questions, hit me up with a message. Ohm rating was around 4 if I recall.

dual coils...

What's the deal with those dual coils?
I thought only the center dash was dual for mixed application - Yesterday I watched a Y! dude replace his door speakers with nice 3.Ohms Infinity saying stock OEM's were 2.0Ohms dual coils per driver (not dual speakers).

The theme with OEM speakers is the diaphragm FOAM suspension simply crumbles up

You'll find large speakers, subwoofers mainly use dual (as in 2) voice coils with 2 or 4 ohm voicecoils. This allows for different wiring configurations to get the load on the amp you desire. If you don't understand what this means I suggest doing a search on it. I asked a guy one time what ohm voice coils his sub was, he informed me his sub doesn't have a voice coil cause it doesn't play voices. Some people just don't understand the lingo that many of us take for granted.
