Curious what y'all think about 2014 E ...
I wanted to take that '14 home.
If you love the pre facelift, you can easily get $7-$10k off msrp right now.
I really don't mind driving either the pre or face lift but if I have to choose, it has to the new E.
I wont be moving to the new style any time soon.

E and S should be the standard MB sedans, but with Sports versions available. After all, there are lots and lots and lots of MB's with a star grille and the aggressive front ends. Especially with the CLA now here.
The front end of this 2014 thing looks like something a comic book author would have created. WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO????
Oh, maybe be like Audi???
Oh! I see! MBZ has outsourced design to DC Comics!
Well, maybe the MBZ management will get some psychological counseling and quit this crap of trying to make MBZ cars even uglier, with bigger, bug sucking maws, than Audis. (Oh, I forgot, that's "aggressive.")
Oh! Look! Even Toyota is doing it with the 2014 Avalon!
Well, maybe my 2011 E550 will last until 2016. Although I'm starting to worry about that, what with pulsing brakes in the mountains; dead car in the garage; rear suspension crapping out; transmission "whacking" at low speed; TPMS crapping out; DRLs crapping out. I'm told by the dealer that the good news is that the dash gives me a message telling me it's crapping out, except for the dead car, of course, that can't talk. But, then, that's the ultimate, high technology error message --- the car will do nothing at all.

I noticed a couple of features on the 2014 that might be noteworthy:
1. The signal/wiper stalk has been moved to where the cruise control used to be. The cruise control stalk is now where the signal stalk was. I was out on a test drive on the 2014 and hit the cruise control consistently when trying to signal a turn.

2. Headlamp washers have been deleted.
3. Airmatic is now an orderable feature w/o incurring the $250 special order charge at the factory.
4 Active parking assist is neat for those whose parallel parking skills leave a bit to be desired.
I do think that the new headlights are way cool, but the star grill is just ugly to me. The new S-class looks awesome from both the front and the side, so I hope that the 2016 E-class will inherit significant design points when it is released. The dual LCD screens are also cool.

Not the kind of bumpers Live Oak and I are used to though.
BTW, have looked at pictures and TV ads again and still don't like the 2014 front end - at all. Even the Audi A6 looks much better. A6 looks even better if you have the solid section installed across part of grille.
Big question to me is: Why did MB abandon the time tested mid-level traditional sedan market? That has been there bread and butter since the 1950's.

Would like to see MB really market and advertise the Luxury version with a return to the 2010 four bar grille, four headlights and smaller openings in front end. Instead of stick LED's, what about four square fog and DRL's. Heck, just use the tooling and dies from the 2010 Luxury versions! Of course, the stand up ornament is definietly part of it. Also, move the "chrome" trim strips back to where they were in 2010.
The Star grille looks OK on SUV's and sports cars - and delivery trucks.
BTW, the new Acura RLX looks pretty good and while list price is more expensive, you can get really good deals on high end Acuras.
Now, we know the grill on every MB in current models is plastic, but there is something the screams "cheap plastic" about the grill star.
Sorry, all you "sport" folks, but that's my opinion.
Mercedes, these days, seems "plasticized" to me.
i just ordered one, so i suppose i really like the facelift! luxury code for me. my 4-pot diesel and the sport kit don't really make sense together, so i'm glad they left us the option when ordering.
note also that the exhaust on the luxury/elegance model is turned down and hidden from sight. i like this feature as prominent exhaust tips are also too aggressive for a cruiser.
