I have a 2013 Benz E350 4Matic, experiencing a rough and loud shiftingcondition, most commonly going up from first to second gear and when pressingthe gas pedal a little hard. There is a very loud growling sound that can beheard near the gas pedal region while accelerating. The sounds goes away once it is cruising. It is veryinconsistent. I have done extensive research online and havefound this to be a known problem in the transmission. Based on my research, thisis due to an internal component failure. However, I am still at loss, there are nocheck engine lights and the dealership wasn’t able to catch anything on thecomputer. Of course, the sound had to disappear when I took it to thedealership. I am scheduled to take it back over the weekend. Wanted to know ifsomeone else experienced this strange issue, the car only has 3500 miles on it.Need help.

Neither my E or my S make any type of growling noise eminating from the transmission. I do not think it is anything to worry about since it goes away at the dealership. If it gets worse, and the dealer can hear it, I am sure you will get it fixed. It may just be normal.

Had some strange noise when accelerating from rest on the E550 4matic. Dealer heard it and fixed it by changing the transfer case. Fairly serious fix but noise went away.

Thank you ImInPA and W210. Just got word from the dealership, they are starting off by replacing the transfer mount. I did tell them that they should look into the transfer case as well as indicated by W210. Such a beautiful car but really embarrassed to face this issue. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks for the concern.

The noise in my case was a knocking sound at very low speed when accelerating. Went away after they replaced the parts. Good luck.
