No Power Folding Mirrors on 2014 E350 4matic???

My bro and I just picked up two 2014 E350 4Matic Sport today, his in Iridium Silver and Mines in Black.
I was very surprised that it didn't come with power folding mirrors!! I thought it was part of P1. I really wanted power folding side mirrors

My Car's Specs:
Black on Black, Sport, P1, Pano roof, Comfort Box, Lighting Package, Lane Tracking, rear deck spoiler, wood steering wheel, and 18-amg wheels.

Had a 2013 E350 Sport parked next to our 2014s and it was a big difference. I really love the 2014 Sports, especially the new headlights and grill.

Not Available/standard in the US, but I hear it may be for all Non-US cars.

THanks Nuru, I just thought it would have it since my brother's 2012 ML and 2013 GL have in P1 package.

I will never understand this. Power folding mirrors = luxury feature. Mercedes E class = luxury car. Getting out at a red light in the pouring rain to unfold the mirror you forgot about = not very luxurious. Ze Germans must think the entire U.S is made up of wide open highways, strip malls and Arby's drive throughs but here in NYC I fold my mirrors in every time I park to avoid the nasty $1000+ replacement of my mirrors.

My point exactly! Even a Kia have power folding mirrors. I really wanted them since I live in NYC.

Thanks fellas! Well I've had MBs before and joined this forum in 2004 just to browse around but never really posted anything. Now that I'm settled down with a wife and kid, I have some time at night to be "active" on this forum.
And the 2014 Sport is beautiful, it attracts a younger customer base like myself. I was sold on the headlights and DRL.

My bro test drove the 535i but the bmw dealer only offered him $26k for his 2011 Acura MDX with 6,500 miles trade. MB offered $33k for it plus a great discount on the 2014 E350 so he took it.

MBUSA made the decision to not include PFMs (not "Ze Germans") - and they're located just across the bridge in Jersey!

Steve Cannon will do anything to cheapen the Benz name, it seems. Go to Europe and M-B's are on a different level of packaging, variation and features, they probably don't get discounted to hell either. I was shocked when I saw stuff on E's that I don't see out here, and how diverse they could be from one another.

I never thought Power Folding mirrors were needed but now that I have them, I use them all the time. It's especially nice when a Motorcyclist is trying to weave around you and you close 'em to protect your car.... you'll get a thumbs up from the rider as well. (it also looks cool when your car is parked with the mirrors rolled in, like "I can do that" )

I had them on my C-class and I would like them on my E, and I may have them eventually, as I have the parts already.

Folding mirrors are standard in Canada. They are set to automatically fold when I lock the car. Since my alarm is on silent mode, it is my way of verifying that my car is locked. Otherwise, they are useless. This is really an option for Europe where some of the streets are very narrow.

Is it like, when a chick is walking down the sidewalk, you flip them in and then out, and it's like going "Wooo Woooo!"?

I guess I don't understand the appeal. I never park that close to anybody, especially some guy with a 1974 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop with doors about 8 feet wide.

Maybe when I'm paying at the McDonald's drive-up I could get closer to the window so she doesn't drop my card on the ground. ?????????

I usually roll mine in when I park, or if I'm parked at a curb where people can walk or bicycle alongside the car.

BUT.... one thing that I started thinking, is that perhaps doing those allows people to get closer to the car itself since I'm allowing them more room to do so, etc. I wonder if keeping the mirrors out forces people to walk, or swing their door open a few inches more-so away from the car, rather than you allowing them the ability to get closer to it when the mirrors are in.

K-A, I've read many of your posts and I think you're very insightful! Cheers!

PFMs is a pretty cool option to have for the many purposes that you've stated. I really want them cuz I've seen many casualties on the streets of NYC during street cleaning.

I just thought it came with the P1 package like the ML because they both do share many similar features.

Thanks VinBenzo! I've "met" many cool members here and looking forward to you becoming one of them!

Totally agreed. NYC is a must for PFM, and merely/mostly a luxury where I am, so I can imagine why they'd be so important to you.

Well, then you do not park much in airports or other parking garages...perhaps you do not need to...which I would envy a lot.

I used to drive a Tahoe, which had this folding mirror function by pressing a button. It did not work automatically when locking the car but was practical from the button.

Where this folding function was very good was when I pulled to an ATM. With the mirrors folded I could put my Tahoe so close to the ATM there was no room for anybody to jump me while at the ATM. With my E-class I really miss this because I have to use an ATM so many time at nights and early mornings in dark and I really would want to pull closer to the ATM. The good German engineers probably did not think about this, just about the room in parking garages.

One thing to understand here is that by the Europeans Canada is concidered as an European "outpost" in North America so MB (and others) supply lots of European stuff to Canada and not to U.S. One example is the B-class cars from MB, another the folding mirrors on the E-classe.

This is true, but the real reason you don't see extra content on your cars is your price sensitivity. Canadians are willing (and forced) to pay more for cars. Our MSRPs are higher, content is typically higher, and we don't see nearly the discounts/incentives up here despite selling a similar share to the US when adjusted to total population.

MBUSA sold 305,000 cars last year, MB Canada did just over 30,000. USA population approx 311M, Canada approx 34M

I remember many members complaining about "squeaking" noise coming from the folding mirrors, and complaining to the dealer. Im thinking they were finally fed up and got rid of the feature.. had the folding mirrors on my 08 C class, loved them

That's completely understandable, and perhaps the reasoning behind it not being a standard feature on all E's here in the U.S but what I don't understand is why it is not even offered in the p1 package like it is on the ML. I can't see it adding more than $300 to the price of the package which I don't believe would deter any buyers especially since most are getting hefty discounts anyway.

I had them on my former 08 Cclass to, but they would take turns squealing LOL! And the noise was not consistent either.

Thanks! I will definitely enjoy the new ride. I'm really in love with the new headlights, especially with the Lighting package. I wonder if the standard headlight come with the same DRLs. All the 2014s I saw at the dealership came with the lighting package so I couldn't tell if they're the same or not. And the salesman wasnt sure either.

They're definitely different. The Lighting Package's is definitely more dominant a look.
