New owner of '11 E550 4M
Just purchased '11 E550 4M with P2, 115vac, driver dynamic, parktronic. 11k miles for 49k. Car hasn't even been through CPO yet so interested to see what they replace/fix as part of qualification. I did get dealer to agree to replace all burl wood in the car. Worst fading I've ever seen. Every piece was terrible. Car is black with natural beige interior.
Anyone ever had issues with rattles or squeaks after replacing all wood? Just worry about the dealership ripping the car apart but obviously needs to be done.
Wanted a '12 but I think this was a pretty good deal for low mileage '11.

Do a forum search for "faded wood" and you'll find threads dealing with the fading wood problem.
I don't recall anyone reporting noise problems after having it fixed.

Don

There's a long thread - search for "Warped rotars" (sic). Some speculate that early E500/550 cars may have been built with rotors that weren't quite up to spec. I didn't have the severe problems some reported, but at about 13K miles my 2011 E550 started showing some minor brake pulsations under light-to-moderate braking. I'm not sure it was warped rotors - felt more like what I experienced with the drilled & slotted rotors I had on a 190E 2.3-16. When I took the E550 in for its second annual maintenance at around 13.5K miles the dealer replaced the rotors and pads with the parts called for in the TSB - no problems in the roughly 1.5K miles I've driven the car since then.

Do you have a copy of the work order from whe they replaced the rotors? What TSB number did they reference?

Dealer replaced the front rotors and pads. Part numbers as follows:
Rotors: 000-421-15-12-07
Pads: 004-420-80-20
Not sure why the rotor P/N has two extra digits - must be something specific to the TSB because the dealer did not have the parts in stock.

Just talked to dealer about my car which was still going through CPO requirements and checklist when I made the OP. pretty happy that they are replacing pads and rotors on all 4 corners as well as 4 new tires. As well as mount balance obviously, oil change, cabin air filter and wipers.
Surprised that all brake hardware and tires needed to be done at 11k but seems consistent with some of the other brake posts and TSBs posted in this thread.
Interestingly enough the entire burl wood package is on back order from MB and they have no ETA which is pissing me off as they want me to take delivery on Monday. I agreed to with the agreement that they will provide proof it's on order and put in writing that they will replace all pieces once its in and provide a loaner while doing so.
Lastly for the extended warranty questions I got an additional 2 years over CPO and 135k total for 2k after negotiating.
Has anyone else heard of wood packages being back ordered? With no eta? We know its fixed on newer models right or is it still a problem?
