You can never tell these things until you see it in person. Sometimes the car will look different when moving like on the freeway, since it's metallic it might change colors depending on the way the sun hits it.

That's a nice color , I honestly say I should have picked up an iridium color when I see the one but I know if I opted iridium then I would say I should have got a black color lol

So, you can set your mind at ease , very lovely color that never lets you down

I think it may look better on the classier Luxury setup. It just doesn't look right or balanced with that new front and sport package, etc.

Definitely outside of the mainstream! I had a truck in that color, and loved it! Different thing on a Merc, though.

Agreed about the luxury setup making it "pop" more, but I think it looks fine with that sport front end too - actually makes that front end look less horrible.

In every pho I've seen that front end looks like a bad photoshop. Come to think of it, it looks like a bad photoshop in real life too.

I agree, the new "Sport" front looks like something someone would have done as a joke to show how the next E would look with M-B's new smiley-face Star grille obsession.

I saw one at a 3/4 angle at a light yesterday and it looked like the front had a kit-car bodykit on what was a familiar architecture. So unbalanced. In white it just shouts that at you as well.

But that's that whooole subject, lol. This color does seem to tone the front down a bit but almost looks like it can't make up its mind as to whether it wants to be conservative and mature or ostentatious (color mixed with FL "Sport" styling).

The luxury version seems to work well with a darker color like this IMO as it gives it a classy presence, especially with all that additional chrome and such contrasting all over.

I like it...

seems like every Mercedes, no, every car on the road, is either black, white or some silver/grey.

I bought mine CPO and had no choice, but I like the gold/champagne color. Have only seen another one two times. Parked next to it once, see pic. Mine is, obviously, the better looking of the two.

In a way, the F10 was a bit similar with the more "in your face" kidney grill but it was much more subtle.

Flatter fronts without "real" bumpers will be a fact of life based on the European pedestrian safety regs that will also add hood bumps and ways of protecting pedestrians from wiper assembies. Hoods will get longer and will crush more readily.

Accordingly, I understand the bigger, more pronounced and flatter grill, but there was no need to put that smiley face with the huge fake air intakes on a luxury car - and yes, the E is a luxury car even when it is in "sport" trim.

The only way to tell about car colors is to look at one sitting outside on the lot. Websites, photographs and brochure charts are very deceiving, as are showrooms. When I ordered my 2010 I originally started with the steel gray, but then went and looked at a couple. Quickly changed to palladium silver. IMO, the palladium is what used to be called a light gray whereas the steel gray looked very dark to me.
Of course, time of day, full sunlight vs. overcast, etc. will all effect the way it looks.
Based on experiences, I would never own another black or white car, but that's me.
From the pictures, it doesn't look bad and will definitiely be different from what is out there. Most "E's" seem to be black, white or silver. Most cars today do in fact.

This is a great color for the sport model. You won't see yourself on every corner and the metallic is the sun has great reflection.

Don't listen to K-A, he is just sorry he is driving an ugly 5 series for the next 3 years and knocks the MB at every chance. Stay away from the luxury model, that is for the Buick crowd.

i really can't justify sport kit on a 4-cyl diesel, though. i know the lux is older, but it fits the personality of the car.
Haha.

Petee. My car is automotive perfection as far as I'm concerned, inside out and underneath.

And not that doesn't mean I hate the W212 or think it's some inferior thing (I still stop and stare.... still connect to it.... that's what keeps me here!)....

I only do the facelift Sport model.

I saw the Blue in person and decided that it would be too dark in direct sun. Also, looks too much like a swirl-able wash victim.

Didn't have any purple that we saw, but ultimately re-ordered Palladium Silver for my 2014 E350 sport replacement.

I don't see a lot of purple in the original picture. I see a lot of grey and a tiny bit of blue. Wonder if any purpose you're seeing is from reflections on the car (it's not a very good picture, in that sense)? Doubt you have to worry about it looking like the CLK pic you've posted above....

While I would also order a Luxury, I've seen a few facelifted sports running around. The front isn't nearly as nasty in-person....

I actually personally really like the color itself. I think it looks like a blue tinged black. I don't see any purple in it. I'd go for it.

The only problem I have with dark blues or any dark colors that aren't pure black.... they usually just come off as "almost black" and don't look as sharp as a pure black car, i.e when next to a pure black car look like "off black" as opposed to "sharp black".

Pictures can be misleading

Taking pictures on overcast days can make it hard to get colors correct. Unless the pictures were professionally done and color corrected I wouldn't use them to judge how the color will look in person.

That new blue color isn't bad. A little dark, which will be a maintenance headache for those of us with OCD (having experienced a tectite grey car, don't think I can do dark again).

I loved the color "quartz blue" as it went well with my fintail - and what happens when I finally get a new car? The color is discontinued.
