Body Shop Story

My wife was just in the body shop for a dent on the door of our R350. Sitting next to her was a lady with a Mercedes GL. The lady tells my wife that several weeks ago her 3 yr old scrubbed her whole SUV with sandpaper. At this point in the story I think I actually screamed. Cost to repaint the GL was $12,000. Lady got the GL back all shiny and new looking and a week later she backed it into something in her garage and was back in the shop again for a quote on her banged up rear door.

New GL or old GL? If it's the old one maybe her daughter had good enough taste to notice how ugly it is and wanted to scrub it away with the sandpaper.

No worries ... you can always put a kid up for adoption at that point.

At least it was a kid that did it. I know of an adult that works at a auto repair shop, his job was to wash/clean the cars that have been repaired before returning it to the customer. On one car that had some stubborn stains (road tar) instead of using bug/tar remover, he took a brillo pad to it, and scratched up the paint on the entire car (for some reason he decided to use the brillo pad on the entire car).

The shop owner had to get the whole car re-painted for the customer and that guy lost his job.

This adult is a high school grad, who spent 2 years in the armed forces, was honorably discharged vet. And yet doesn't have enough common sense to not use a brillo pad to get stubborn stains off of car finish.

Just for curiosity, wouldn't a home insurance cover something like this, i.e. what the little kid did?
