Buying 2012 E350 Sedan Luxury - Your thoughts?

Afternoon all -

2012 E350 Luxury with 25k miles for sale by a non-MB dealer is asking $35,989. - AutoCheck Report shows the following:

1. Titled or Registered as a Rental Vehicle, or Part of A Rental Fleet.
2. Left Front Impact Collision Accident Reported - Police Report. 02/2013 (no other information is provided regarding this accident report)

No title issues. Title shows as clean.

I test drove the vehicle, on highway and residential area, and the ride was smooth. The inside of the vehicle looks pristine. I observed the left front and no sign of damage to vehicle. It looks original. Dealer did not have additional information regarding the accident but the "manager" informed me that it was at least 1k of damage.

I'm uncertain if he knew that b/c that is the minimum amount needed to be reported on Autocheck, or something else. I did not push the issue since my intent, for the day, was to test drive only. I plotted to hammer the accident report at the time of negotiation so I did not push the issue.

The vehicle has been on their lot for over three months. I've seen the price drop from $40,000 down to $35,998. I was going to offer them $33,000 including all "doc fees" etc., but not including tax. I would walk away if more than 35k.

Side note: Carfax does NOT show the accident that Autocheck shows.

Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

More likely, it was a lease and not a rental.

This is the Carfax

Here is the Carfax printout for this vehicle. Carfax Report

Both Carfax and Autocheck show that title is clean. Interestingly, I ran a check of the vin in google and one website, a salvage type website - for one reason or another lists this vehicle. However, when I click on link - nothing pops up. There is some kind of metadata left by the site?

Strange. This dealer is a GMC dealership. I imagine they would not sell a vehicle as "clean title" if in fact it is not.

This car has been sitting on their lot for 3 months - that's enough to tell you it's not worth it. Maybe it's the area, but in my area, E350s sell fast - within a couple weeks or less - and there are about 6 mercedes dealerships within a 40 mile radius.

I live in Chicago where 4Matics are common, but increasing the search area returned more non-4matic e350s with an average price of $40,000 sold as CPO. That's a difference of $4,000 for peace of mind. Just as others have, I would pass on that offer. These cars are already expensive to deal with on a good day, you don't want to press your luck.

price seems high. Got one with 37000 miles for $20000. Excellent condition with pan rood , metallic paint and package 1 with AMG upgrade. Addeded $2000 for 5 year wheel and tire hazard warranty. Taxes, regristation and $450 doc fee.

Agree. Bought my 2012 off-lease CPO 3 years ago with 15K miles for $33K in SoCal. Original MSRP was around $65K.
BTW, OP you don't want to buy an earlier MY. Lots of improvements in the 2012 makeover, the biggest being more HP and better gas mileage.

2014 E350 with 72k miles. Dealer wants 19995 for it. Any concerns with the mileage? Anything I should look for? This will be my first MB. Just don't know what to look for.

Post #6 raised it from the dead for Halloween, I suppose.
