Navi - by zip code?

My last MB did not have navigation - My 2011 E350 does - I was looking for a common street the other day "Washington" of which there are about 5 in the greater city area - Navigation kept taking me to one only which is where I did not want to go. I understand I cannot enter a zip code? Other suggestions? Is there a list function to choose from? Thanks.

Here on a zip code map, you can find an accurate name of a street you need. Yeap, you are right. It would be more convenient to just enter a zip code and that's all. But as far as it's not a thing I see no other options.

You really have 5 different streets with the same name in Washington City?
Did not think it is possible.
Now, coming to recognizing zip - my 2008 navigation does not recognize street numbers, but in Las Vegas we do have streets that go via 4-5 zip codes, so when I enter such street, the navi asks me in wchich zip zone I want to go.
Sucks to be routed on begging of the street only to find that the house number is 15 miles away.

No... the street name is "Washington".
It's possible to have multiple streets with the same name, particularly in different suburbs. Having said that, generally if they're in the same city they will be Street, Avenue, Road, etc. Not all "Washington Street". Sometimes a road will be divided by a highway and the road will "continue" in a different location:

Usually, however, these have continuous numbers to avoid issues like the OP is experiencing. Or for the post office.

What I see on the map is the same street, that was cut in 1/2 by freeway (probably build much later).
I see it a lot. The street where I live is about 5 miles long, yet to get from 1 end to the other you have to make 3 loops via the neighborhood as several blocks are not paved.
That said, several friends with older GPS landed 3 miles away from my house and got completely lost when trying to drive toward my house ended up on desert.
That is why going to neighborhood I am not familiar with, I check the route on google maps (live traffic as well) and even when I use MB navi for convenience, I still have my android standing by for accuracy.

all above seems to be issues with not using up to date maps.

Mine has no issues with finding proper part of road and get me near street numbers

Guess the improved it every year and never owened a Garmin when developing this stuff.
Ya think the engineers would check out all the competition to find pros and cons when designing theirs.

According to the 2016 Comand Manual (Page 70-Destination Entry), you CAN enter addresses by Zip Code...

"The city in which the vehicle is currently located
(current vehicle position) is at the top of
the list of cities. When destinations are
entered using the character bar, the locations
for which route guidance has already been
carried out are more prominently available.
You can enter any of the cities, streets, ZIP
codes, etc.
which are stored in the digital
map. However, ZIP codes are not available for
some countries."

I have not yet tried this myself. However, I would not be surprised if older versions of Comand did not have search by ZIP Code. YMMV

2016 navi is different technology.
I have voice-programmable navi in my 2017 Ford, with touch screen and that thing will guide me to the door.
Although I don't like when my truck communicate with headquarters behind my back. Who knows what information it is giving?

Well yes and no. You can see that one street continues on where as the other ends. But the one that continues does so as a different name. And yes, it was built much later.
