Raymond,
Thanks for letting everyone know those numbers are real.
I am getting very close to that 50 mark myself now that the car has almost 15,000 miles.
You may or may not have seen my earlier post how much better that mileage got when I drove it at annoyingly slower highway speeds. I was getting close to that 60 mpg area if I just set the cruise and don't change speeds, lanes or brake. Then again where I drive in Florida the roads have no elevation, milking every mile out of a gallon of diesel is not that difficult.
My best to date was

AIR CONDITIONER OFF
WINDOWS AN SUNROOF CLOSED
1400 RPM
58 MPH
60.3 miles to a gallon..

That is when the car was brand new. I no longer drive like that. Now I drive it like I stole it.

Today with diesel at $2.99 a gallon, I was really enjoying the car for many reasons.

I went over 50 mark, too but I did not mention that. I thank you for your post because number I saw was for real also. We are getting just as good fuel mileage as Toyota Prius.

That is awesome.

Here in CT, on the highway, we're still paying about $3.75 for diesel. With gasbuddy.com I can get into the 3.40's at a local station off the freeway.

Fuelly notes about an 8mpg difference between 2011 E350 gas and diesel.

The $0.50/gallon price difference doesn't make the diesel "worth it," but it is much better for the environment, and the 400 pounds of torque when I step on it at 50, THAT makes it worth it.

In many places, diesel and premium are about the same, so as they say, "Your mileage may vary."

Darn Democrats love their taxes here. Let's tax diesel like crazy, because only businesses use it, and they can afford the taxes.

What? You mean the wheels aren't supposed to come through the floorboards in accidents?

I spend lots of time in eastern Massachusetts and there's a Sunoco station that I often pass whose diesel prices are historically about as low as you'll find.I buy most of my diesel there. It was $2.99/gal yesterday.I was surprised to see the other day that the station on I-95 in Darien selling it for $3.55/gal.

Not to throw water on everyone's parade but I find Mercedes-Benz (and Ford, but not Toyota Prius) lies like snake oil salesmen on calibration of their fuel (fool) computers.

This past Sunday for 500 miles 28.5 MPG was showing but 25.5 MPG (+12% error) is what the calculator said based on odometer and the diesel pump. Couple years ago I drove 1017 miles no faster than 60 MPH. Had 35.7 MPG showing, 31.1 MPG with the calculator (+15% error). 7 years with a Prius I found the display was more accurate. Often 2 MPG high but thats only +4% error if 52 claimed 50 actual.

2014 Mercedes E250
My car is an 2014 E250BT. I haven't done a formal test, but 16,000 miles of driving in five months verify the high mileage figures. My driving area is California east, basically the entire southwest. Highway speeds varied (I don't speed.) 65 to 85 mph. In town miles account for about a third of the total. Gas mileage on the odometer display is off (over) by two to six mpg depending on conditions. So, I go only by the fuel pumped in. Highway average is 45 mpg. Allowing for the discrepancy in the mpg readouts, there are times when it does get over 50. In town it gets 32 mpg.

I'd probably have more miles to record, but my car has been sitting at the Mercedes dealer more than a month waiting for a part to arrive from Germany. The loaner, an E350, same model as the E250 but with a gasoline engine, gets about 10 mpg less. I haven't noticed any better performance with the gas engine.

Diesel prices haven't fallen as fast as gasoline, are usually 3 months behind. Diesel is still commonly $1/gallon more than premium but there is huge variations. A couple stations 15 miles away are $0.50/gallon less than even the discount stations. High levels of chaos in the market.

35 MPG gasoline vs 45 MPG diesel favors gasoline these days. There have been several times since 2008 (my first diesel) when gasoline prices skyrocketed above diesel prices. When slow moving diesel prices worked to our advantage.

Diesel prices are usually @ their highest during winter. Here in the west, current diesel prices vary considerably from one city to another. The diesel price premium (compared to Premium gas) in 5 cities that I surveyed via gasbuddy.com :

Vancouver: +5% above premium gas
Seattle: +20%
Portland +7%
Sacramento +8%
Bakersfield +9%

In the above examples, diesel would still win due to its 30% higher efficiency. Other reasons to own a MB Bluetec include the much longer range and less pollution.

Diesel prices in Orange County, CA run from $2.76 to $3.90.
My last car E350 BlueTec was over optimistic with fuel mileage reading on computer but e250 reading is pretty accurate.
I don't miss power of E350 at all. I can pretty much go anywhere without worrying about lack of power. On highways this does go over 50 MPG mark. I am happily surprised at the numbers. I'll be watching closely in months to come. My car has less than 5,000 miles on odometer. I hope you guys are enjoy the car as I am.

Government data only compares regular to diesel. Regular is down $0.868 from a year ago, diesel only $0.592. http://www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

Like your previous E350BT, mine was optimistic by 12-13% ! E250BT computer seems to be much closer to being accurate. So far, I have no complaints about the 2.1L twin turbo engine; it actually feels faster in city driving. Negligible turbo lag compared to the E350BT.

Bluetec diesel emits less CO2 because it comes out as C2. As for other components Bluetec techniques only bring our emissions down to "average" for gasoline engines and no where close to ULEV levels.

The National Academy of Sciences just published a report that shows diesel being a fair bit better than gasoline for both air quality and climate change.
Gasoline hybrids were rated better than diesel.

I've never seen such a large differential between Regular Unleaded and Diesel. It's $1.10 more for Diesel than Unleaded where I normally buy fuel. Diesel is always higher in the winter, but the extra high price of Diesel right now seems unjustified.

On the other hand, I used that differential to my advantage by ordering an E250 at a deep discount. I'm guessing that only Diesel purists are buying diesel passenger vehicles nowadays. The average person sees the price differential and stays away from diesels. I imagine hybrids are also selling at a discount right now. This is a good time to buy fuel efficient cars and be ready for the next oil price spike.

Besides good fuel mileage I get from e250, I actually like the way diesel engine runs. Its 4 banger with my car but it runs like V6.

When I test drove the E250, I had to pull over and check the badging on the trunk to make sure they gave me an E250 and not an E350. The engine is much peppier than I expected, it has very little turbo lag and it has a very muted diesel engine sound compared to my GL320.

You have 2015 e250 but I have 2014 e250. I believe they are same. These cars love to go long distance driving. On hilly roads I thought the car will run at lows gears but it says "D7". I am watching at it but it stays up there and I say to myself "hard to believe".
Enjoy your car. You are going to love it more.

2014 E250 Diesel, 2015 S550, 2023 EQS SUV 450+
Purchased E250 Bluetec RWD in December 2013. To date have a little more than 34,000 miles. About 1/3 of the miles were on long trips, almost all highway. Remaining 2/3 were "local" miles, which is probably a 50-50 mix of highway and non-highway.

Highway speeds typically average about 66-70 MPH; rarely exceed 75. Non-highway speeds probably average about 25 MPH.

Live in Texas so no cold weather issues. Car is garage kept so no cold startup issues even on cold mornings. Texas roads are typically flat with gradual inclines/declines.

I am not a hyper-miler, but I also don't accelerate quickly. At low speeds I will often go to Sport mode (1 lower gear) or manually shift as Economy mode often results in the car feeling like the 4 cylinder engine it is.

Mileage figures below are based on actual fuel consumption, not the trip computer. The trip computer over estimates by about 2 MPG.

Best 5 tanks: 45.4, 44.9, 44.9, 44.5, 44.4
Worst 5 tanks: 36.9, 37.0, 37.4, 37.5, 37.8
Overall (34,033 miles): 40.768

I have been more than pleased with this mileage through 34K miles. I do recognize that Texas driving conditions (warm weather, lots of highways, flat roads) boost the mileage results.

Been a great automobile.

2014 E250 BlueTec RWD, 2015 GLK250
My results so far are inline with jplr0228's.

2014 E250 RWD, purchased in May 2014. 25665 miles, 2 trips across the US now, 2 PPL but somewhat loaded vehicle. I do have a 120 mile commute with mostly interstate. 52 miles each way @ 70+. Tend to drive 2-7 over the limit. Those daily runs, morning per the computer, usually get 44-47 mpg on CC @ 73mph, and afternoon (warmer) I get 46-52 mpg not on CC but running with traffic -5 to +15 over. One trip traveling light, but the speed limit was 80, so I was running 2-4 over and got 44mpg that trip of 400 miles thru some minor mountain passes on I-15.

I been running a tally since the day driven off the lot and mathematical figuring, 40.1 MPG overall, with trip computer figures in at -1 (rare) to +3 (often) over. I reset every fill up.

Trips across the US I only gotten in the high 38's to low 40's, but the motor to me was still breaking in. Recently (last 7k) I been seeing higher MPG, even in the cold mornings during the winter months. No additives, just fuel (no bio diesel in Utah) from top tier stations.

Bottom line for me, yes this 2.1l delivers what I expected it would. Great touring power, long legs, almost never needs to downshift, just goes and goes. Also I feel in town, plenty of power to pull away from any stop circumstance or traffic with ease and grace, but has plenty of reserve power if desired.

GL 350 Bluetec 2015
Dude, I have this same car and you are not exaggerating.... No one will believe you because they don't believe me.. I bought my E250 bluetec in 2014 and still have it. It does get 850 miles per tank easily. I live in Charlotte NC and drove to Tampa FL. I filled up at home and drove purposely without filling up and no need to. I stopped only to use the bathroom and eat... When I got to Tampa, I had just over a 1/4 tank of diesel left and drove around for three days on that. I filled up before my return trip and the results were the same. I am not getting rid of this car, I will fix whatever is wrong with it; the mileage is too good. By the way, a MB V6 diesel, cannot be compared to the 2.4 ltr 4 cylinder diesel...I have two of them... It just cannot get that range so for all you doubters, stop trying to understand, you won't be able too. When I travel in that care you can expect above 800 mile range easy all day and I drive 75 to 80 MPH with A/C or whatever, I don't hold back... Its just an awesome vehicle....IF... you can find on you better get it.

2006 E320 CDI
Just bought a 2014 E250 4matic. Will be interested to see how well I do. It's 4matic, so I lose a few mpg there. And currently winter diesel, so another few mpg hit for the time being. Came with Bridgestone Driveguards, which I don't love...not sure what the rolling resistance on these is. Looks forward to replacing them when there wear out a bit more.

On the drive in the snowstorm up the east coast I got about 36 mpg, which didn't seem too bad considering the conditions.

On my E320 CDI, I've gotten 31.2 average mpg over 29,000 miles. My best was 37.3. So I'll use that as my benchmark.
