how do i lock the steering wheel
Hello
Sorry to ask such a mundane question but how do i lock the steering wheel o my MB e350? Thanks |
You don't. There is an electronic steering lock that locks automatically.
|
is that after a certain amount of time?
I am used to the wheel locking and then having to rotate the wheel 20 degrees and turning the ignition? |
I stand corrected, there is no steering lock on the E-class with automatic transmission. I just checked the parts catalog and the steering lock module is not valid for automatic transmission.
|
So the steering just stays loose? Seems very strange, even my Toyota has a steering lock. All cars I have owned has a steering lock. Can anyone confirm this info is correct as per GregTR's comments.
|
Out of curiosity, why do you need that? I thought it was anti theft feature for older cars.

GregTR - thanks for your detailed response - do not understand the diagrams much but seems to talk about transmission cars and the electronic lock.

Trust me, it's correct. See attached documentation. With the automatic transmission the locking is done via the A80 Intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT and the Fully integrated transmission control unit which basically blocks the transmission from coming out of "P". The DAS 4 is used on 2014 models. Pre-facelift models had DAS3 which is essentially the same, the difference is that the newer cars have and extra Chassis CAN BUS line.
