Minor Transmission Damage?
 

leaving my office tonight and as I walk up to my car I notice this 2003 Saab is sitting on my bumper. After waiting 20 minutes I was able to find out who the owner was. She claimed she didn't park that way and I agree because I saw her car parked earlier and it was about 5 feet from my vehicle. When she pulled away in reverse my car moved A LOT! There appeared to be a lot of stress on my transmission. There is no cosmetic damage as far as I could tell in the darkness. After looking at her car she pointed out that her rear bumper had damage. Which it did. She said she never "noticed" it before. It could have been old due to no plastic anywhere on the ground. So thoughts are she was hit in the rear and in turn hit mine. I exchanged paper work anyways just to cover my butt. Maybe I'm being paranoid but now I seem to hear my transmission shifting loudly from park to any other gear. I called the local police and they pointed me to download accident forms to fill out and they will be sent to my insurance company. Before I fill these out I will be stopping at the dealer in the am to see if the noise I'm hearing is imaginary, normal, or in need of attention. Anyone else hear a really loud clicking sound when shifting out of park? It's really pronounced in my parking garage due to reverberation off of concrete walls but maybe I'm looking for something that is not there?Attachment 276887

I dont think you have anything to worry about!

Sorry to see that glitch , my input is if your car is towed (hopefully never ) when it's in P ,it could also damage the tranny given that your tranny is offended in that case you posted about .

If towed cars suffer no damage in tranny from towing then your car is should be safe to drive .I think towing a car should put more stress on mechanical components . I suppose you better ask service manager or mechanics to set your mind at ease

Probably that pin that puts the car in Park is now bent.

Thanks for all you replies. Mechanic at dealership said the noise level is normal. Its just the electronic gear shift mechanism. I guess I got lucky.

I hear a grinding noise when I push the stalk in ,I refer to gear selector ,I hear a grinding noise when the car shifts into P and it happens even w/o using parking brake .
That kinda of noise is normal
