All Weather Floor Mats

I'm looking to purchase all weather floor mats for my new E350 Wagon. Trying to decide between the Mercedes mats and the WeatherTech mats. Which ones did you buy and why? Also, are you happy with your choice?

btesar 03-02-2014 08:39 AM

I have used the Weathertech mats in all my cars over the years. 2 VW's, 1 Dodge Ram and I'm on my 3rd MB E-Class. The All-Weather mats have always fit very well and don't deteriorate over the years. The reason I chose WeatherTech initially was because they are made in the USA on US made machines by US employees.

WeatherTech also manufactures the winter mats for BMW and maybe for Benz.

Weather tech looks a little industrial for my taste, prefer oem all weather....

I kind of like the hexagon pattern of the MB mats, and they are traditional, I think that style has existed for at least 30 years.

OEM is well design, the only thing is that the rear could be a little bigger to cover more space

I have the OEM hex pattern mats. They work excellent and are stylish. The weathertech is all hype and look like crap. Plus they are expensive. The hex design actually holds the small amount of melted snow in the compartments so the water doesn't fly all around as in the poor weathertech design.

The Mercedes OEM winter mats look good and work well. Since my dealer included them @ no extra charge, the price was right as well !

Agreed. The rear mats are strangely small, and don't cover the carpet properly.

Front mats are fine, and a nice design.

In have the weathertech floor liners. Not mats. They are great. Cover up the sides of the carpet too about 1-2"

I got the Mercedes ones. The front mats are excellent, but my only complaint is that the rear ones are too small. Seems like they are floating in the center of the footwell. I wanted something which fits till the edges and would cover the hump in the center as well. Does anyone know if weathertech or any other good ones do that?

I've purchased both the Mercedes OEM trays and Weathertech trays. The MB OEM mats had a weathertech label on the box and they are identical other than the label that is affixed with an adhesive. There is a good secondary market for these mats, look on Kijiji first, used mats go for about half price and well worth looking into.

I have OEM but the rear one doesn't like to stay put. When I have passengers in and out of car, the mat usually will slide forward.

I've never bought weathertech for MB, but I've bought them for VW and BMW. Both VW and BMW Weathertech mats were thinner and less sturdy than VW and BMW OEM mats and didn't fit as well. Pricing on the weathertech was about $20 less than OEM. If I had to do it again, I would've bought OEM VW/BMW. My local MB dealer gives 15% discount on parts for costco members, so the MB OEM mats comes out to about same price as weathertech. When I have to replace the mats in my E350, I'll buy another set of MB OEM.

Thanks for all the replies! Based in the data, looks like OEM it is. Thanks again!

Yea as some have said .. Weathertech brands their mats with the MB decal.... and since my dealer had em as offered 25% off. I got them as well as the trunk liner.. However even with the discount they are not cheap..

yalej 03-03-2014 12:38 PM

To chime in, OEM floor mats in car and weathertech trunk liner.

ph350 03-06-2014 03:18 AM

The weathertech rear mats are pictured on their website. They come up short at the rails in order to clear the seat in case it needs to be moved all the way back. You need to decide whether it is worth $70 bucks for "digital fit" mats that look generic. The front ones fit fine for both Mercedes and Weathertech.

Is there any mat which covers the center hump?

DG_Guy 03-06-2014 09:52 AM

I ordered OEM mats from my MB dealer for my 2012 E550. They showed up in a weathertech box. They're the hex ones that look like the OEM mats in my 2007 R350. Maybe a little stiffer than the older ones on the R350. My only complaint is that they seem too small in the back.

Unfortunately, it is not available at all. It would be nice if they have it, especially for those that have lighted color interior. :nix:

shashivr4 03-08-2014 05:46 PM

Does anyone have a pic of the weathertech cargo liner in their E350 (preferably in a wagon)?

Mbenz260e 03-10-2014 05:07 PM

I like the weather tech liners for the SUVs, but the OEM for the sedans with the hex shapes. My only mistake is not getting black. Even though I have a light interior, the black doesn't show the scuff marks and grime like the lighter colored ones.

hyperion667 03-10-2014 08:10 PM

OEM is what I like, I also agree with airmousam about the others being to industrial; spot on assessment

mrbrianshin 03-11-2014 03:19 AM

I have the WeatherTech ones and they fit perfectly in the front. They even snap into place and have the snapper piece where they belong.

As for the rears, yes, it is a bit small.. but of course it will be small.. and this is due to the fact that the driver/passenger will be moving the seat forwards and backwards and isnt going to be in a fixed position.

Overall, I think the WeatherTech mats are well worth the money. I lucked out and put them in before the most recent snow storm and honestly i feel like like my floor carpets are well protected from the elements AS WELL AS the salt/chemicals that get tracked in.

Can't go wrong with either, but I think the WeatherTech offers a bit more of coverage. Just my personal opinion though, since I've never installed the OEM all weather mats. I only have the WeatherTecch ones. All in all, well worth the purchase for me!
