Volume control with navigation system

I would like to know how can I lower the volume of the navigation system independently. I find that it is too loud ( esp with sleeping kids in the rear). If I turn down the volume to comfortable level, then I cannot enjoy the radio as it becomes imperceptibly low. Anyone has a similar problem or knows a solution? Thanks.

you have to use the down volume while the navigation lady is speaking. You can set the music and nav volumes separately, but you have to adjust while the one you want to change is working.

So, you can't adjust the NAV volume while music is playing.

So basically don't enjoy the radio when traveling to new places with a sleeping kid. Okay got it. Thanks.

Read his post again. You can adjust the volume of the Navigation instructions to a whisper if you want, independently of the radio. So you can have a very low navigation sound, to the point of being inaudible, and a radio sound adjusted to whatever sounds good to you. When the navigation instructions are being announced you simply lower the volume during that process to whatever volume works. You need to do this as the announcements are being made. If you missed it just repeat the announcement and hit the volume button again. It is easy.

BTW, This works for every audio source you are listeneing to. Navi, Radio, Satellite, Bluetooth, Aux ect. Independant of each other, and the volume level is remembered for each source.
