possible electrical problem?

Hi all,
I have a 2010 e350 4matic just passed 50k miles. it has been pretty fine so far but last night i started the car to go home and put in reverse and noticed the rear camera didn't come on, it was raining hard, then noticed wipers are not working, C/S button didn't work.
so i stopped the car, turned the engine off took the key out, the panel complains that my lights are on while the knob was in auto.
so i put the key back and started the car, no change except the check engine light came on too.
i drove home without wiper in the rain and in the morning, everything is working fine except the check engine light is still on.
My question is, has anyone experienced this kind of situation at all? How can I make MB fix it for me under warranty if there is a big problem. My car passed the 50k mil warranty period by 300 miles only. I have an appointment with MB service this coming Monday, any input is appreciated.
Thank you.

I would try to tell them that this is the earliest you were able to bring the car in and that while the car is now over 50k miles, the issue happened just under... Good luck!

Not sure of your prior ownership history but since you owned the car while it was under warranty you should have a case for a goodwill adjustment to cover all or part of it. Wait and see what the MB dealer does. If they are not treating you right, call 1800FORMERCEDES.

Ok, I know this would come up. Yes I agree, and trust me when I find a $100 bill at the grocery store I turn it in.

In this case, it is so close to the warranty period/mileage AND the car OBVIOUSLY has a factory defect that needs to be corrected. If the OP had never been in that bad rain he would've never found out.

If he was at 75k miles then I would say no way but, the defect has probably always been there and just because it happened at 49,999 miles + 2, now MB gets to be off the hook? Come on....

Give the guy a break.

The dealer does not care what I have to say and what's with the car, like a broken record, he was keep saying that I ran out of warranty and I have to pay 150USD just to check the fault code. I guess I am outta luck with them.
I guess, i will try the above number and if that does not work, maybe trade it in. Will post the outcome.

Update:
I called MB and had a chat with them, they seem cooperative but said that I have to pay the 'diagnostic' fee in order for them to even consider looking at my case. He also mentioned that if we see all the records are in good standing and no problem, they might be able to do something.
...I have make another appt to take the car for diagnostics. I seriously think that I am wasting my $150 but lets see what happens.

That stinks. Well if the CEL is still on, you've got to get it checked by someone. If you go to an indy, you won't get any support from MB.

It will help your case with MB if you've owned the car for a while (didn't just buy it) and if you've owned other MB's in the past.

The CEL won't go out on its own. Your problem is, apparently, intermittent but the CEL stays on to say that a code has been stored. You can read the code and reset the light with an inexpensive OBD II reader. They cost under $50. If the light stays off after reset, you have a one-time anomaly. If it comes on again, you have a hard fault.

Don

Does autozone read MB codes like they do other cars for free? I've used them before to reset codes for Honda and Toyota like for a loose gas tank cap. Haven't needed to try yet with my MB (knock on wood).
