Review of OE Tuning's Tune On NA E550

We offer flash loaders with a 4 map pack of tunes (factory stock, valet, tuned premium pumpgas & 100oct Race). This allows you to load and remove the tune at your convenience. Purchase also comes with free reflashes should the dealership write over your tuned settings. Your tune will be saved in our database and is always 100% reversible.
More information about each flash loader type can be found here:

OE Tuning C63 AMG
Unfortunately there is no OBD2 flash loader available for 550 BiTurbo with MED17.7.x ECU. From tuning E550 BiTurbo we typically see gains of +110-130wTq & 100-110wHp to the wheels from dyno testing. Dynograph can be found here: https://oetuning.com/blog/?p=991

BJ with OE Tuning helped me with my purchase for my NA 2010 E550 about 7 weeks ago. I got the flashloader and tune for $595.
I think the way Jaab explained his experience was similar to how I felt/feel. I wasn't sure quite what to expect... After the tune was installed I drove it around the area for 15 minutes and I literally felt the car come alive. The most noticeable difference is the throttle response, which on my C350 and E550 were uber sluggish from factory. The car also pulls much harder (IMO, most felt in the lower rpm ranges). Unlike the 4matic, with a RWD, my traction light does seem to come on a little more frequently... maybe b/c I like to mash on the gas after a turn or launching from a light, occasionally.
Overall, I think I made a good decision getting the tune. It's been about 7 weeks and no problems. I definitely have no experienced a loss in fuel economy and am actually averaging 19.9 (up from 19.3!). This is just a simple (and cost effective) way to wake up your engine and make the power the e550 has more usable and available.
Thanks OE!

Just wanted to post up that I visited OE Tuning today and got the ECU tune for my W212 2010 E550, with the N/A 5.4L Engine. Thanks again to Jeremy and Patrick for the quick, quality tune!
The car has really woken up, and noticeable power has been increased across the band. Take offs at traffic lights are quicker, mid-range power while driving on streets/hwy has increased and the car is faster and more responsive than before.
The only other mod I have is the Brabus cat-back Exhaust (OEM filters, no K&N), which I told Jeremy about and he dialed-in with the tune. Great, quality power at a great price, without sacrificing reliability.
Very satisfied, and noticed an improvement in MPG, even with my lead foot testing out the tune across the RPM band. Will post more once I log on a few more miles on this.

Berlin? Why Berlin?
Mercedes Benz headquarters are in Stuttgart.
But I agree, a detected tune would be used as an excuse, even if it's only a change to the AFR, ignition timing, and throttle maps.

Technical support for the dealership as well as sales and distribution for Germany is in Berlin.
So if a dealership has a bigger problem, they have to file a "TIPPS" case in Berlin. Berlin will offer detailed advise on the steps to take. If Berlin cannot solve the case, then there is on the next (and last) escalation level the "factory support" from Sindelfingen. They will send out an engineer to inspect the vehicle - or even bring the vehicle into the factory.
I have been through all that stuff with my M278 4.7 BiTurbo, when it had a rattling noise (wastegates).

While on paper such numbers don't seem that big, don't be fooled. OE's tune utterly transformed my car. It is now a blast to drive at all rpm's, accelerates much faster and shifts more aggressively. The best news is, OE reprograms both the "E" setting and the "S" setting, making Sport much faster than the original Sport and the tuned "E". I can now drive my E350 like my previous C43 AMG (V8) -- not the C55 AMG though. With the tune I am satisfied with the car and find it to be a great sporty but sedate sedan. Think about it, an OE Tuned basic E350 has the same horsepower as two previous Mercedes V8's, the venerable Porsche designed '91 500E and the '99 C43 AMG.
Note, for the E350, the ECU has to be removed and sent to OE in CA. It is extremely easy to remove. No tools are required really, only a flat head screwdriver for convenience. I could not find a tuner that was able to tune our direct injected gasoline E350 engine remotely with a programmable OBDII tool. Many more recent models can be tuned that way but, unless you guys find it, ours can't. With overnight shipping, OE tunes and overnights your ECU back to you the same day they receive it, so you will only be without your car for 2 days.
Altogether OE has been a great experience and value, start to finish. I've had the tune for 3 months now and it's still great -- gas mileage has improved 1 or 2 mpg -- if I don't flog the car.
Also, for some reason, after the tune the engine is quieter while accelerating than it was before the tune.

E350 GDi ECU Tune Review
I purchased the 2014 E350 GDI tune from "OETuning" for my 2014 E350. OE lists a 23 ft/lb increase in torque and a 23 hp increase after the tune: http://www.oetuning.com/products/mer...z-e350-3-5-gdi .

OBD2 flashing for 350 GDi
Unfortunately 2014 350 GDi is not supported by any OBD2 flash loaders, and the ECU must be sent in for tuning. This means no map switching ability for this platform. Tuning is definitely worth the downtime when sending in the ECU. Some OE Tuning flash locations can install this tune while you wait. IAP Racing in VA can do this for you while you wait. Give Paul a call to make an appointment 703-665-2250.

Also what exactly is flash loaders/what does map switching do?
Do this mean that I can not automatically set my ECU back to default when I take it in to the dealership (essentially, once I do the tune I am stuck with it forever)? Please advise...

Can Dyno Tuned Performance in Va Beach do this (they are probably closer and more convenient for me, traffic wise)?

Adding in my positive experience.
I have a 2010 E550 coupe w/dynamic handling package; it has two driving modes (aside from manual mode): comfort and sport.
My preferred mode is "comfort". I like the ride - but the throttle lag and engine responsiveness was terrible. Especially from a near 400hp V8. As a result, I spent most of my time driving the car in "sport"; which wasn't my preference. I felt the suspension was too harsh, and the transmission was hanging too much onto gears.
Happy to report the OE Tune has corrected this. I was not looking for more power or removal of the top speed limiter (both are added bonuses though). Rather I wanted improved drivability, especially in comfort mode. The car now gets out of it's own way. Engine performance in comfort feels like 80% of what sport mode is. More than enough for regular driving.
In sport, it's even faster. A fun (occasional) mode, but not my main goal for tuning.
These guys are great and a value for what you get.

2011 E550 - 4Matic, 2008 ML550
Hi Tony - I have a 2011 E550 4M - I have had the OE Tuning on my car via the MyGenies . I have had it for about 3 plus years with zero issues.
I'm happy I have it - is it a massive difference - no - but I like the fact there is less hesitation when applying the gas - and slightly better gas milage.
If the car is new to u - you might not see the diff. I had my car for about a year before I did it - and in the end was very happy.
Good luck...

Had my 2011 E550 OE tuned about 6 months ago. Very happy with results. Better throttle response and more power. Combine with high flow filters and muffler delete. I have not problem walking away from my sons 2008 E550.
