Just curious, but why? You can always have it put on. I guess maybe its because its not "original"?
only thing I'll de badge is any dealership sticker or emblem that was much more common in the 90s. |
Debadging is really just a personal preference. Some people do it because they like the cleaner look, some people do it because they may live in an area where they don't people knowing they drive higher end models (richness, etc). You might say that you will try debadging for a while and if you don't like it, you will put it on. However, once you take it off its not as easy to put it back on since you gotta get glue, etc. It's really either you love it, you think its okay and leave it as is, or you hate it enough to go through all the trouble to put it back on.
I would recommend looking at some pictures around this forum that are in your car's color before doing so. I was hesitant when I debadged my E350 but ever since I never regretted. I was impressed on how much a pieces of chrome on your trunk can change the look of your car. Again, its a personal preference. |
debadging is awesome for the clean look, some people don't care, or want to hide the displacement of their ride :)
I say go for it |
I typically keep my cars original for resale value. If I remove something, it is typically easy to put back so that I can when it comes time to sell.
While I appreciate the clean look, mine is a 4matic so at least that badge balances out the trunk. But sometimes I would prefer the stealth look of no badge. You know what you got, but they don't. |
Why would you debadge an M-B? You pay a heck of a lot for the name, as with any "luxury" make. Especially with M-B, since they have so little badging to begin with.
I have removed the dealer's badging, etc. or actually tell dealer not to put it on or remove it if they have. |
I'm thinkin if I dont debage.. I will plastidip the badges.. I have Palladium so a dark grey might look better than the flashy chrome.

Its your car, do as you please. Before you are ready to sell or trade it in, just pick up a new badge and glue it back.

Did you plastidip or vinyl out the chrome bar? I'm definitely going to black out the bar, but have been debating on the emblem. Oh, and welcome to the forum by the way!! Put up an intro post with pics! |
This is an interesting topic and for myself I want to keep the badging but either purchase them in black or have them plasti dipped. With that being said does anyone know where to buy already black badging?
|
As a former BMW 530xi owner, I had it completely blacked out. You can find blacked out badges on ebay. Also, no glue is needed to reapply. They come with a peel and stick adhesive. So, reapplying to sell is simple.
I agree the debadged back looks sooooo clean! |

We're only talking about removing the side badging (4 matic, bluetec, e350, etc.). No the Star. No one would remove the star.

I would guess that 95% of people do not know the difference between a C, E, S, CLS, CLA, AMG, etc.
BTW, I do like the idea of badges that contrast with the vehicle car colors. Way too many silver, gray, light colored cars with "silver" badges that you can barely see. Manufacuturers should take this into consideration when they make the cars and have badges that contrast with the paint. What we really, really need is a way to get better looking license plates. S.C. has about 60 different ones and they are all ugly. |
