Anyone else annoyed at the MB World Forum randomly running video commercials?

Or is it just me?

I used to leave MB World forums as an open tab on my office laptop. That is until they started running commercials randomly at the bottom of the screen.

Often the volume of the commercial interrupting a meeting or phone call.

Looks like I will be no longer visiting the site while at work. :nix:

I haven't got any random videos, make sure it isn't spyware

I'm now getting also. Have to turn volume down or start hearing random ads.

same thing here, but it happened only once to me.

Looks like it started this week - a video will play about twice an hour.

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w212-109/

Happens at the "main" menu - bottom left of screen, right below the NEW TREAD button.

There is a 3x3 inch ad box, and it will randomly switch ads to 30 second videos that will play with no user interaction.

I guess when MB World sees their web hits drop, they will at least have some idea why.

Not a single thing here... ADBlockPlus must be taking care of it.

Adblock plus rules. It's blocked 3 ads from MBWorld already today. I'm surprised more people are not using it considering it is free. I'm sure MBWorld may not be happy though.

ABP :y

imaphaetonguy 06-13-2014 03:18 PM

Sweet!

Installed ABP, and the ads on the bottom of the MB menu are GONE! :)

Another plug in is 'Click - To - Flash'. It keeps most videos from running unless you click the window they are in.

I've also noticed some really scammy pop-up/hijack type ads on here when viewing the site on my Android tablet on public WiFi hotspots as well. Ads for malware-type applications, and apps of dubious nature (Android Cleaner, etc.)

At first I thought my tablet was infected, but I don't see them when I'm VPN'd into the office connection.

What if they put a fee on this forum after everyone blocks the ads? Somehow someone must get some sort of a compensation to keep it running. I rather take a hit of a commercial every now and then than start paying for this.

And I don't leave the site open when I'm not at the computer either but that is just me...

I highly doubt they will put a fee because of adblock plus. Not many people knows about it and even if they do, they will lose a lot of members.
