Called MB today to ask if they had an upgrade for the flaud navigation system in my 2014 E350. It has been 6 months since I complained to them about not being able to put in the city where I live in the system. I have to use a city 15 miles away. Seems they changed to a cheap company for their navigation system for 2014 models. Prior year models will accept where I live but since MB decided to save money by going to a cheap company my city is not in the system. My $25 garmen will let me put in where I live but my list price of $74,000 MB will not accept where I live. I wanted to make sure that they do not charge me $250 for an upgrade once it is available. They stated they would make a note of it. They also stated they have no idea when the upgrade will come out. They also stated the new system is not a cheap system. I stated really!!!!.

Does your city have a "Mount" that can be confused for "Mt." or some other derivation? I have always had issues with this with the MB navigation changing names from reality for no apparent reason.

I live in Prairie View IL. I am completely surrounded by Buffalo Grove. According to MB navigation I live in Deerfield which is 15 miles away. I tried using Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire, Wheeling but MB navigation says I live in Deerfield. At least it is not a bad as some people I have talked to that said according to MB navigation they live in the middle of a corn field. It olny is bad for the 2014 models and I asked if I could get the 2013 version and they said it will not work on the 2014 because it is a different company. MB opted for a cheap company for 2014,

Per Wikipedia, it looks like Prairie View, IL has had a very troubled, and controversial, history with boundaries.

The various mapping systems depend on data provided by states and counties --- I wonder if the authorities in you area have been accurate with the data they provide?

They provided the same information to the 2013 and down models and they work fine for my address. The problem is the 2014 navigation system that MB installed in their cars. It also will work fine on different mfg of cars built in 2014. Just MB has the problem. They have a cheap forein system that is not good. They should have kept the old company that was reliable and that worked.

I have on occasion the same problem making entries from the car. Try using "send to benz" on your computer or from your cellphone.

Don't enter your home address in the nav system for security reasons. Use an address close to you and give it a pseudonym. Use that for return navigation to your home.

MB uses NAVTEQ for mapping support. That is the same map database used by Garmin and most car manufacturers. Like Live Oak said, some of the data comes from the localities. In any case, it isn't MB's fault.

If it is not MB fault who"s is it when the other systems pick up my address fine. Also I believe that you are wrong on what MB uses. Prior to 2014 they used Navteq but they switched to a different company for 2014. Check with MB and they will tell you they switched companies for the 2014 model year. Also if my address works in the 2013 model year why does it not work in the 2014 model year if as you state they are given the wrong information by the local community. Any way you can praise MB and state it is not their fault when I know it is there fault for switching companies. And by the way the 2014 BMW and cadillac will also take my address so I guess they corrected the faulty information my local GOV. gave out RIGHT!!! Good luck on selling me that.

I detect a bit of anger. Perhaps you should focus on that instead of the navigation system. I'm sure that anger managements meeting are available in your area. If you can't find the address in your nav then I'm sure you can find it on google...

You'll get more help here once you become rational.

Don't think '14 maps are NAVTEQ? Plug your model info in here. There is also a link there to provide corrections.

NAVTEQ currently does maps for MB, Audi, Acura/Honda, VW, Garmin and a host of other car companies. The map data is all the same, but the implementation/routing may be different depending on the manufacturer of the devices.

Before you go off half cocked about cheap data, you might want to do your research first.

I'll be happy to respond once you calm down and stop frothing at the mouth.

Could the data from the mfg device be the problem? I was told by MB that the 2014 navigation is a different mfg than in prior years. Did they lie to me? If the mfg was different in 2014 and my address does not work in it then would it not be the people that purchased the system for the 2014 be the problem?. I would think that MB purchased the system from the mfg that made the navigation system. But you are saying that even though MB purchased the navigation system that is installed in the car it is not MB fault that it does not work properly. When does it become a problem where MB is at fault. I just don.t understand. Do you work for MB and is that why you say they are not at fault. AS far as being angry. I am more frustrated than angry. I am sure there are some classes that you can attend where you live to be more sympethetic to someone that is frustrated with there first MB. If you cannot find a class I would be willing to look one up in your area so you can attend. From the posts that I have seen and read it seems that the MB fanatics rating people need to actually help people rather than critisize. They seem to have lost touch with reality and only want to be sarcastic and downgrade people . You seem to be one of them . If you do not have anything that can help then don"t comment just to rake up points on posts. Go back on prior posts and see how many times you critisized a post and how many times you actually helped someone. You will be supprised how negative you are or maybe not because that is the way you want to be.

Check the NavTeq map at http://here.com/explore/31.786427582...0,0?lang=en-US There is a section to send them map corrections as well.

I agree that some locations are in uncharted areas or off the mapping, even in heavily populated urban areas, which is dumb. I can't stand buying updated data maps all of the time either. There should be a way for the satellite to just automatically update this new mapping information when it sees your version needs updating. It is just one more profit center for the dealer.

I'm interested to know if you can find your location using the link in my message above. It appears to me that this is the source of the MB maps.

I am a old guy with limited computer skills. I went into the sight and registered. I then put my address in but I could not find where to click to make it go to my address. I will play with it more today and hopefully when my Grandson comes home he will be able to tell me how to work the sight. Sorry I cannot answere your question yet but hopefully I will be able to later.

This simplest way to check is to go to the home page at http://here.com/ and enter your address. It works fine for my address in NJ.

Went in again and this time I pressed enter and it came to my address. It had Lincolnshire rather than Prairie view but that is alot better than what my car does. Where I live 60069 is Lincolnshire/Prairie View/ Buffalo Grove post office and this system picked up The first one and that is OK. Do you know how to put this into my car navigation?

You can't. At least as far as I know. What is interesting is that the information on the website should match the information on your navigation system. At least as far as I know.

However, there are two ways to save the address in the navigation system that do not involve entering the address.

1. While at the location, you can save the car's location as a destination.
2. Find the GPS coordinates and enter them as the location. You can find the GPS coordinates using http://www.gps-coordinates.net/ and at the bottom of the Destination list, select enter geo-coordinates

Both of these should work for you. The instructions are also found in your COMAND manual or here

Hope this helps.

The Nav on w212 is bad, embarrassingly so. I would never try using it front of anyone I wanted to impress.

+1. I like to show off the driver dynamic seat, airmatic and acceleration, but not the nav - not at all.

When they ask if it has navigation, I just say it only comes on the S class.

I finally figured out how to put in the navigation gps coordinates for my address. It will not allow me to put in Prairie View , Lincolnshire or buffalo grove. It states it is in Deerfield which is 15 miles away. When I use the NavTec it allows me to do what I want to do. What does that mean? IS the mfg of the navigation device at fault or what. Any suggestions? How do i find out who made the navigation device for 2014 models?
